Could it be to do with the route that you personally took when learning guitar? We’re you taught wrong? 😅 I’m joking. Some of the chords in level 2 people don’t tend to learn until very late into playing guitar. Some don’t learn them ever 🤷‍♀️

The level 2 and 3 chord shapes have a lot of notes that hold tension and want to walk to resolutions. For the sake of the video the rythm was boring, but if you play them as flourishes or while walking the bass/melody it will make more sense to the listener. Point being the chords are more complex but define more "dos and donts" than the basic chords, so they take away freedom, this is not a bad thing. But means just fitting them in as substitutions wont make something nice hell it will clash a lot unless your ear hears when to use them

@brenomanhaes9322
@brenomanhaes9322 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aurora-oe2qp I wouldnt say its chord melody as he isn’t actually playing the melody, it’s more like adding more jazz-ey tensions and changing chords more often, which actually can be harmful to comping on a song like this where the focus is more on the melody than on the harmony

I’d be hard pressed to call some of those transitions “chords” when they’re not really used like chords but more so like harmonied licks. It’s a bit more useful to think of these as chord embellishments rather than full chord transitions. It’s not inaccurate just not really useful. Good content tho

he literally named every chord that he played. therefore they are exactly that. "chords." the ones he named. the only harmonized licks were the pentatonic run between verses. people are reacting because your comment mostly just sounds like one of those people in class who argue for the sake of arguing, but mostly just do nothing but make everybody want to say what the second comment says. maybe try something useful next time.

I know what you mean, but not necessarily. There are also different levels to complex guitar playing... Just to name familiar names (there's a lot of great "unknowns" out there), if you can afford playing/singing close to, for example, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, a lot of flamenco musicians, etc., then by all means! And to them, the level 3 in this video is basic. So it's all perspective. But again, I know what you mean...
