Wow.... this is awesome. And this is a 1st gen CR-V with AWD doing all of this.
@richieplaysgame52 жыл бұрын
just got my hands on the 2nd gen model from 2002 and put on 16x7.5 sunraysia wheels with 235/75 dueller AT tyres and a HRG 3" lift for family trips and some light offroading. Feeling pretty confident in its abilities after watching this ;)

Awesome stuff! Really looking forward to seeing what you get up to next year, especially that VC + LSD set up, that'll be neat as

Thanks dude! Yeah I'm just happy to be driving it again. It's been a very frustrating year with so many months of it not being driveable or safely driveable, so I'm really looking forward to having all those little kinks worked out so I can power forward with those things! I was really hoping to have the LSD's by the end of this year but just too many things I didn't account for, so all steam ahead for next year doing it right!
@jamesbk92515 жыл бұрын
@@isakjetbean Oh yeah man, it really sucks to have something sitting in your driveway but you can't drive it. Despite all the trouble you've encountered, it's still come a long way this year, and I'm sure the same will be true at the end of next year

Hi! My dads has his 1998 honda CRV which is an automatic transmission. Is it okay to customize for offroad? Am not sure if it can perform well on off road like your honda crv.
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
I've seen plenty of people using auto's in USA. I've never driven an auto CR-V myself so I can't say much to how it drives, but I know plenty of people in USA are running pretty capable auto builds as well.

Mine does fine in the mud and it’s an auto real time awd

I want a crv now! You have to love an old Honda. I think Honda should have made a larger off roader to compete against the toyota land cruiser its a shame they didn't.
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
They had/have the Ridgeline in USA, but nothing up to the standard of a cruiser. Just blows my mind they had low range in the old 89-91 RT4WD civic wagon but not anything else.

Nice vid bro. Would be nice to hear some engine sound. Any cv axle problems??
@isakjetbean3 жыл бұрын
Honestly she's pretty quiet, stock exhaust setup still. Gonna start posting more with good audio now that I have my airbox finished as it's MUCH louder Not really any CV issues, split a few boots but never broke any completely. Getting fresh cvs soon though as obviously spitting grease these cvs aren't too happy anymore haha

You had any issues lifting it 3 inches ? Is it just a lift kit ? No adjustable camber arms or any of that ?
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
Didn't have any issues running the height in mpst of this video, but I do have trailing arm spacers and I would recommend running adjustable camber arms because my bushings up front for my camber arms were shot and my rear camber arms were at a shocking angle causing some bad swaying at highway speeds. I've since fixed that with a HRG camber arm drop bracket for the rear. I've also since upgraded all my arms to adjustable and am dropping the engine and subframe.

What is the antenna on the rear? And how is it mounted?
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
Self-tappers to mount it just using an Aerpro antenna mount. It's for my UHF radio in the front, so I can communicate with other guys in the group without having to shout all the time and so we can keep in touch on the highway if we have to pull over for anything.
@josephvanni4 жыл бұрын
@@isakjetbean So do you just run on FRS channels?
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
So here in Australia along the 80 channels on our UHF radios there are select channels for emergency services, other channels that are reserved but generally a lot of the UHF channel band is open, so UHF is more practical than the fancier options. I know in the US a UHF radio isn't as useful due to them splitting the frequencies, but in Australia it's probably the most common vehicle-to-vehicle communication type. The majority of rigs in Australia will communicate on a UHF radio, and a lot of people offroad even have a sticker on their vehicle with their UHF channel so you can easily contact them if need-be. Whereas America stuck are stuck with sub-1W "cb" radios, it's perfectly legal to run a 5w UHF radio. However, if I were to bring my CR-V to the states, the UHF setup would be illegal and useless.

Can the CRV's suspension components really take that kind of beating. They were never designed to banged around like that.
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
There are some weak points, the front shock mount isn't built to take big jumps, so your shock can slide through the mount and potentially break your CV. This is my biggest concern, I want to get something fabricated to work around this. Otherwise, I haven't had any premature wear or failure of any other suspension components from offroad use. Had one incident with a damaged shock but it was an improper installation that caused it.

Is this Automatic or standard??
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
Manual all the way 😁
@drumminwithtony51474 жыл бұрын
Is this FWD or AWD?
@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
It's a weird system. FWD with mechanical AWD when the front slips. So when the transfer detects slippage in the front, tailshaft spins, a hydraulic pump fills the clutch pack with a viscous fluid and it engages the rear to assist. So mix of both.

@isakjetbean4 жыл бұрын
I won't lie, it takes a bit of work to get it running just right offroad, but with a little bit of work putting some lift for ground clearance, because they're so light, they're actually surprisingly capable.
