both of u are so cute!! japan’s convenience store food kinda reminds me of what we have at don don donki outlets here in singapore. sooo delicious thank goodness i’m watching this while having breakfast so i don’t get hungry 🤭🤭 keep up the good work! i’m a new subscriber from watching your jeju vlogs (cuz i’m going there soon hehe). loving the content! ❤️

The things you described as “dough” are called dango. Or more specifically, mitarashi dango. It’s basically a rice cake (similar to mochi), glazed in a sweet and savory soy sauce. Also, I miss the convenience stores in Japan! Japan convenience stores have the best assortment of food! If you ever come to Hawaii, you can try our 7-11s here. They are very similar to the ones in Japan. In which we have a lot of hot and fresh foods, sushi, onigiri, etc. Thank you for your Japan vlogs! 😊

@@JanandAnn Exciting! Hope you try lots of foods while you both are here! You definitely need to try poke! Pronounced “poh keh”. It is a staple here. It’s basically raw fish, often tuna, with raw sweet onion, sesame oil, chili flakes, soy sauce, green onions, and kukui nuts. There are other variations of poke such as tako (octopus) as well as salmon too, among others. If you like udon, you can try Marukame Udon. There’s one in Waikiki on Oahu. Not sure which island(s) you’re going to. There’s always a long line, but it’s well worth it. Some other things you should try is spam musubi. Another local favorite here. It’s basically spam and rice wrapped in nori seaweed. The one from 7-11 is the best. Definitely do try our 7-11 foods! You won’t be disappointed. We have food from all over Asia basically in our 7-11s. Don’t forget to try Hawaiian food here too. Kalua pig, lomi salmon, poi (acquired taste), haupia (coconut jello. Kind of like a flan, but coconut flavored). If you come to Oahu, then you also need to go to the North Shore to try the famous garlic shrimp there. As well as Ted’s Bakery pies. Haupia and chocolate pie is the best, either with or without macadamia nuts.

Thank you for your video. As the title suggests $3 meals, I'd say that's not impossible to do, but I know you spent more than $3 on your 7-11 meals. $3 is about 400 yen. I think it's fair to say it was about $10 per meal. For $10, you can go to a cheap restaurant and get a meal... I was hoping to get some tips, but while interesting in it's own right, I learned nothing... and you bought Doritos? There are so many local options for snacks, and every konbini has a 100 yen house brand snack section. I laughed when you messed up opening the onigiri, because everyone does that the first time. I think the title might be a little misleading, but it's interesting all the same to see what you chose. But the title is misleading, and that does bother me a little. I can teach you how to do real $3 meals from the Japanese convenience stores - it can be done. The food won't be as diverse or interesting, and it won't include a drink, but it COULD include chips... so for people traveling on a budget. You should have titled this video something else (you know, something honest). Otherwise, slightly interesting.
