Hey Scotty I have a 1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 350 cubic inch engine. I use the car for my daily driver. I drive to lodi from Lockeford here in California. It takes 30 minutes to get to lodi and it’s 55 but I drive about 60 there. Is that a good amount of time to help the engine or should I drive some where further to get closer to that 2 hour mark like you say. Thanks Scotty for you amazing videos.

Some of these softwares are like $1000+ and since i only primarily do my own maintenance i just havent the need for something that expensive to tune. I could swap a Holley or Edlebrock setup into it for a fraction of the price and tune it just as easily, but for the time being i dont mind taking it to my mechanic for that kinda work.

You *want* him to retire?

Been watching Scotty for a while. Always wondered why he doesn’t have a garage with a lift if he is a full time mechanic. I do most of my own car mechanics myself and the worst part is crawling around on the ground. If I did it all the time, I would have to get a lift.

I use the 130 Tollway from Seguin to Austin and then loop back to San Antonio across the 45 to Kyle/Buda and down to 1604. Newer and much smoother than I-10.

Hey Scotty, you can use a little cheap laser light to be able to point to parts/items while your squeezed up under a car in a tight spot!

Here's a tip. Instead of buying one of those code readers, most cars display them, you just gotta know what to do. When a code light is on, turn key all the way on (not starting) all the way off 3xs fast, code should display on odometer.

My check engine light came on one of my cars I didn't drive around that much. Evap canister. Started driving it long distance at 75 mph and in two days it went away. Just happened 2 days ago. Scotty's so right. I only drove it at low speeds before. Once again the 🐐 is right!

I did the Italian tune-up Labor Day weekend in my old Ranger, drove 4.5 hours going 80 mph, lol. Trip was supposed to take 5.5 hours. RPMs were at 3k thanks to the 4.10 rear end and 4-speed auto. Surprisingly, I got 18.5 MPG on that trip, lol.

I'm British and if I got 18.5mpg any time I would off myself haha

Between my truck and driving my '17 V6 Mustang enthusiastically, my MPG all around is probably that bad on a regular basis and it doesn't bother me, haha. I only get gas once a week. I guess Scotty's right, Americans don't care about how much gas their vehicles use unless it's $4 a gallon and they drive a lot.

Justin Weaver - US gal. = 3.785L, Imperial gal. = 4.55L. But yes, when fuel is cheapish, there’s no incentive for manufacturers to design autos for efficient running and economy.

I use to put fuel injector cleaner in the tank and disconnect the fuel pressure regulator and drive for about an hour on my 97 lincoln town car. Worked like a charm every time.
