Choosing the right cordless chainsaw can be a tough decision. Here is how I feel about the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Dual Battery Chainsaw after 3 months of ownership.
Milwaukee M18 FUEL Dual Battery:
Pros:
Portability: The dual battery system offers impressive runtime and the flexibility to swap batteries on the go.
Power: Milwaukee's FUEL system packs a serious punch, rivaling many gas-powered saws.
Convenience: Cordless freedom means no more gas, oil, or tangled cords.
Cons:
Battery Life: While improved, runtime might still be a concern for heavy-duty users.
Cost: The initial investment in batteries and charger can be significant.
Switching Chains on Your Milwaukee Dual Battery Chainsaw: Semi-Chisel to Full Chisel
Changing the chain on your Milwaukee dual battery chainsaw might seem daunting at first, but it's a relatively straightforward process. This guide will focus on switching from a semi-chisel chain to a full chisel chain.
Why Switch to a Full Chisel Chain?
Sharper Cutting: Full chisel chains are known for their aggressive cutting performance. They create cleaner cuts and require less effort to push through wood.
Better for Harder Woods: If you frequently work with dense hardwoods, a full chisel chain can provide a significant advantage.

The water is from the snow on the wood that you cut . The chain suck the snow in , but this is not a problem for me.

My top handle accumulates a lot of sawdust under the cover too! I think it's because it puts out too much oil.

The only battery that I’ve seen to have ‘arrived’ for chainsaw duty is the GW 8Ah ‘Ultrapower’. Still not a quick refill when it does run out, but I think that one battery is even closer to the ‘cusp’ as you said, and others will follow.

It seems like the new M18 tools all have a similar theme, they all just use a lot of power and need the new batteries.

Why didn't you make the chain a full house as well. You went full chisel why not full house as well. Maybe your next video should compare a full house chain vs the stihl you placed it on it.

The weight is a similar issue with the Milwaukee dual battery string trimmer. Love it, and man it's heavy. But many times I need the power and can't use my gas Echo on particular jobs

Yea, 20 lbs is a dealbreaker for me. My gas saws are significantly lighter, even my ms311 and that thing sucks to do anything awkward or all day. The single battery chainsaw is good on weight, but it has other issues; mainly the fact that it overheats 8.0 batteries by the time they're at half charge. They need to make them with a backpack battery pack and they'd be far better. Add to that the fact that they somehow still can't make a functional chain oil system that doesn't leak everywhere and I'd rather use my gas saws on anything the single battery saw can't handle.

ive been able to do some good cutting in the woods with my m18 16" chainsaw, i have around a dozen batteries but only 5 of them are HO none are forge so really i have 5 chainsaw batteries the rest dont do too much work even 5.0s i find you dont get nearly 5AH out of them they just get drawn flat really quick where as a 6.0 you get 6ah worth of run time.. the 5.0 might be a third of that.. i always bring a husky and a stihl too and i usually end up employing them towards the end of my 2cord gathering trip, but if i didnt have those saws i could easily pick up a couple forge batteries to try out and fill my 2 cord trailer with logs, birch and maple trees usually 8' lengths

Homeowners are going to be 95% of battery operated chainsaw users I know a lot of tree guys who use chainsaws for a living they've tried battery saws but for real cutting they use up batteries too quick for quick cuts its good

I like and appreciate your videos but the battery life has a lot to do with your cutting technique. I get you are a tall guy but it seems whenever you are cutting wood on the ground you are binding the saw and just letting it sit there and rev until it starts cutting again. Every second you pull the trigger it is using the battery so make the cuts count. A lot of it is simple human error, I just got this saw a couple days ago and can’t wait to start doing jobs in the spring with it. Picked up 4 12ah forges and 4 8ah forges and I’ve got a hole bunch of hd12.0’s as backups

I’ll go through a RS chain, 2-3 file strokes a load before I clean my Stihl/sprocket. Average almost 10 big loads a chain. I can’t imagine these electric saws would hold up. But the average person in the platform? Probably a…reasonable…buy. Gas/0il is cheaper than batteries. Definitely paying for convenience.

I consider battery chainsaws a backyard tool. I don't want to take a day of cutting wood, traveling 60-150 minutes, only to be limited to what that can be cut by the charge of a battery. Also, I'm questioning the length of cutting time in 90+ degree heat.
@jonathancarver1547
@jonathancarver1547 5 күн бұрын
I have the top handle saw, so I can speak to how it reacts to temps. The 90 degree heat is much better for the battery life working than 30 degree heat. Lithium struggles with cold temps like bloggers snow!

I ordered one from woot a week or two ago for $710 after tax. This morning I bucked about 2/3 cord of freshly downed red oak that was about 20"-24" across that my smaller M18 chainsaw would have absolutely struggled to buck. I already bought into the M18 line and have a pair of 12.0 batteries already and plan to get some money back pawning the 8.0 forges on fb marketplace. But I'm just a fire pit and smoker enthusiast that likes to process my own firewood, and I don't want any more small engines to take care of or dealing with fuel going stale or with mixing fuel and oil for what little intermittent cutting I do.
