thanks for your professinal input. I too was caught by the sweet sales man. I had back then a 1500ram 4x4 new. My wife and I fell inlove with a Timberlodge, unit and the sales man new our eyes lite up, already seeing us on our dream vacations. SIr you also have the perfect pick up for this unit. ( clearly it was not ) pined the unit, and the sag was so low, it had zero clearance to let the suspension work. So then instal air'ed up bags it helped with the wieght.. but the unit still had issues, had the best sway bar.. still zig zaged all over the place. Wrong pickup, wrong tieres, wrong unit, and the #1 problem.. ME. If we all take the time and do some research, ask Rv's question and look at others that been haulling for years talk to them, look at there setup, ask them what would of changed. Rv's with history can say alot. my 2 cents sean from montreal, no longer have that problem, have a GMC duelly with a 38ft fifth wheel. Super setup

My salesman said that he had been selling RV's for almost 20 years and when I said that I did not want a slideout because they can cause problems or fail he said that he had never seen or heard of a problem with slideouts.

When I'm buying large items I never let on that I'm going to pay cash. The salesman will always assume that you're financing. Then once you've negotiated for the best rate and price then ask if there would be a discount if you were able to pay cash. Sometimes they want the money right now and will give a little. If they won't they've already committed to a top line number and they can't really increase that at this point.

We completed half our paperwork on the phone with our RV finance manager. He was extremely nice and interested in our family until we declined his extended warranty sales pitch. By the way, his spiel included the warranty, tire protection, roadside assistance, gel coat on the fiberglass/fabrics, gap insurance, and some club for about $19,800. We politely said no, and his tone completely changed. He wasn't rude, but you could tell he wasn't thrilled we had said no. I'd rather make an extra payment on my loan or put that money aside if something were to happen than argue with an insurance company and pay an extended warranty fee.

I bought a Nice used 27 foot Shockwave Toy Hauler by Forest River From Camping World. They said everything had been inspected and checked out. Madin voige I had water every where in the cabin. Toilet valve was broken from a freeze swell break. Lucky a my fellow FFOFC camper had a cap plug for the water line. Camping World was not happy with me when I got back. Also the awning had a taped tear an was full of pin holes. Oh we don't replace those due to the cost. All was good to go I was told. Camping World really sucks and I'll never darken their doors again. I love my Shockwave tho. All is repaired by me. I did have a RV tech like you install the new awning. OH I paid cash That PO them No finance contract for them. I love your course

You are spot on. I bought my 4th travel trailer 2 years ago. We finally agreed on a deal, I paid cash and no extended warranties. They weren't too happy about all that. I told them that it was pretty apparent to me that they were more interested in financing my rv and selling warranties than actually selling me the rv. Needless to say, it was a pretty quick transaction.... and then the shuffling back and forth for warranty work began, which is another story that's been covered in detail by many over the industry being over their head and poor service, poor workmanship, etc. I just recently was contacted about some warranty parts (about $750 worth) that the dealer discovered in his shop that were ordered over a year ago. I said I'd be in to pick them up, I'll take care of the labor and installation myself. Thanks for your videos. Don from Florida

Love your videos. Saved us a lot of headaches when we purchased our new to us travel trailer. We ended up getting a 2007 mallard 25RL. All is in great shape except that we found out when we went to use it for the first time that it has a poop pyramid. Can you make a quick video on how to get rid of this issue? Very one makes a video on how to avoid it but none on how to get rid of it. Thanks for your awesome advice and videos.

There are dealers who will take cash for an RV and not raise the price (in this case I financed through my credit union). I negotiated a fair deal for a trade and an out the door price without using dealer financing. No extended warranties either. Meyers RV in Cicero New York was who I did business with. There were no deceptions, false advertising or bait and switch tactics used, unlike what c@mping w0rld tried to do.

Buy the time I buy I know more than the salesman, and let them think I'm financing and extended warranty. Time to sign papers, change to cash deal. Never sign the arbitration agreement. I tell them -- you don't want to go to court --- don't screw me over. I get 40 percent off the BS MSRP number. Also let them know that it will be at least 6hrs. for me to do a walk thru.

The problem with extended warranties is using them when you don’t have time on your side. If you are at your homebase and you can afford to be without your RV for an extended length of time, you might be able to get something covered. However, if you were on the road and need something fixed, most people or businesses that can help you will not accept the extended warranty. The extended warranty companies make it very challenging to actually make a claim. Extremely long hold times each time a call is made for the claim make it very difficult for the repair facility to make any money. Often times they will only deal with the repair facility and not the customer. The hours of time make it not worth it to the repair facility. This assumes it gets covered at all. When we had issues on the road that would have been covered by the extended warranty we just ended up paying out of pocket. The extended warranty company did not have a reimbursement process only a preapproval process. Perhaps an extensive future video on extended warranties would be a good subject to cover. Thanks for the content.

Extended warranties can be different on where u can go for warranty work. It's the insurance company the dealer is using that makes that call. The rv dealer finance guy should be outlining if u were to make a claim, where u can go, so yes buyer beware if this extended warranty will work for your life style. But just like the manufacturer warranty work it's no different, wait for approval, wait for part ,wait for replacement. 🍻

Not just RV sales folks but folks in general that utter “to be honest with you”….. what?? You haven’t been honest this whole time? I can’t do business with someone who uses this phrase, it’s a big old red flag for me.

I bought a used small single axle travel trailer, and while discussing the extended warranty, he highlighted the box that said "no deductible" while saying there is no deductible with this policy. I said, OK and signed it. Come the first time to use it, I got out my paperwork and the box that said "no deductible" was not checked. No deductible boxes were checked. Under all that with an * said, "if no boxes are checked, the deductible is $100. A little bait and switch going on there.....

When repairing an rv roof on an older toy hauler (2015) what would you recommend is the best, longest lasting and least maintenance? We are slowly rebuilding this thing and don’t want to have to do this twice if we don’t have too. Is this in your guide?
@JeffinTD
@JeffinTD 7 ай бұрын
Dang. If the extended warranty guy would have been honest- if you buy the service plan we use part of the commission to buy down your interest rate, and once the plan is written you can cancel it if you don’t want it… once they were caught lying though I’d have been out the door.

I was in the process of getting a Geo 15FBS. When I told the salesperson that I would not sign any contract with a dealer liability waver, she didn’t seem to understand. She sent me a copy of the contract and the first paragraph in the contract was a “Sold as is” waver. I pointed it out to her and she seemed surprised. I guess she didn’t understand what the contract meant. The sales manager called me up to try to talk me around the waver. After listening to his BS for a few minutes, I stopped him and explained that I fully understood the terms of the contract and that I would not sign any contract with that waver. His refusal was immediate and he would not budge on it. The deal did not happen. These “Dealers” are just brokers with an independent LLC set up for their service departments. Still looking and I figure that I’m going to get a used unit. At least I’ll know where I stand on the purchase.

I watched a video warning me about purchasing an RV from a dealership. I saw a brand new R-Pod for $14,500. I’ll take it. BS. I could not buy it for that. Shipping and dealer prep, $2,000.00+. Tax, title, and whatever was another $699.00. I ran away. Next dealer was worse. They wanted me to have a lower payment that were going to have me pay close to triple for the RV. The pressure at both places felt criminal.
