Hey Coach, This might be a dumb question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. Is simply swinging your bat a good exercise? Would it be useful to do a hundred swings every morning? I'm just starting out playing this game, and I want to make the starting roster, so I figured I gotta work harder than everyone else. Do you think swinging for high reps is gonna help me get there?
@UltimateBaseballTraining
@UltimateBaseballTraining 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I highly recommend swinging your bat, whether that's just dry swings, tee work, soft toss, front toss, or BP... swing the bat as often as you can! However, make sure that every swing is QUALITY. That's much more important that the quantity of swings you take. Don't just fire through 100 poor swings and call it good. You'll just get yourself into bad habits that way. Make each swing count!

Hey coach I was wondering if you could make a video or comment on this. Sometimes I do not see the ball well off the bat because of the backstop, bleachers, sky, trees etc, how will it be easier to see the ball better in those types of circumstances?

JW: I’m 20 years old. Never played baseball. They have some softball leagues around where I’m from for local men. My dad and grandfather played and i think i have a little bit of natural talent. Not a ton. Is it possible for me to play and be good? Or does it take years to become decent? Idk if i should bother. I love the sport of baseball. Even if it is softball, would still enjoy it.

I think you should give it a shot! Yes, it doesn't come easy and it takes years and years to develop your skills. That being said, with hard work you should be able to pick up the fundamentals relatively quickly. It'll be fun for you to work hard and see continuous progress.

Hey coach Justin, you think you can make a video on breaking down where to throw the ball when the ball is hit to you on, in a gap, like guy on 1st, guy on 1st and 2 second and so on. This would help me so much!

Do you have any tips for infielders and possibly outfielders on throwing high, but not too high, and low but not too low?. I seem to have a problem trying to throw someone if trying to throw to some in the infield, because UT ends up being too high

Tony Herring focus on where you released the ball and where you are looking.

Great tips. When a ball is hit, should your first steps always be backward until you pick up where the ball is going?
@UltimateBaseballTraining
@UltimateBaseballTraining 5 жыл бұрын
Typically that's what most coaches teach. I would say the majority of the time your first step should be back, because as an outfielder you don't want to let anything get behind you. That being said, if you get a good read off the bat and you're 100% sure the ball is in front of you, don't waste the unnecessary step - just have your first step be towards the ball.

One of the toughest things for youth baseball parents to accept is that their kids play the OF positions. 13U/14U kids (and some 12U kids, too) hit these man-size fly balls that require excellent outfielders to track them down and perhaps actually catching them. Never too early to learn how to play the OF correctly!

Step one: always overthrow the cutoff man to show the scouts your arm strength. Step two: only use the glove hand to catch the ball, never use two hands, so the scouts know you can look pro. Step three: swing for the fence every time, outfielders only hit home runs.
