Explosive, abrupt and surprising are words I would use for diarrhea from Metformin but for me only 2 days and one nervous night lol. Slowly increasing your dose over months is important and reduce sugar/ starch intake, increase fiber and vegetable intake to help feed your bacteria flora and normalize bowel movements. And most importantly, the pills smell bad, keep them sealed away from peoples nostrils and accept it may change your natural scent.

I avoid eating fatty foods, wheat and tomatoes. I've been on metformin for 1.5 years, and so far so good. I'm taking b12 as well.

You sure missed a major side effect that I know about first hand. It is also used as a fertility drug something my wife was not told about and after a long time of not being fertile we ended up with a disabled child. That doctor should have been sued but we didn't know for a long time afterwards.
