I have been using this knot for years whilst fishing the Salmon River in Pulaski NY. Great and easy knot to tie while on the river. Very strong and I have had some big fishies on up there. Thanks for the demo.

Snell knot or a variation of the snell knot. Great knot for fishing if you notice when you put tension on the line with this knot the sharp end of the hook reacts jerking in an upward motion, greatly increasing the power of a hook set

These hooks are just great. I’ve caught many striper/rockfish with these hooks (10/0). Super sharp, very strong, and they take a lot of abuse and won’t rust. Overall they are my favorite hook for striped bass.

Thank you mate, I like to use Palomar for braided line because it's strongest fishing knot. For mono or fluorocarbon I prefer knot-less knots because they give the best results. Thanks again for commenting!

Thanks! I totally forgot how to tie this knot and am tired of my BF looking at me incredulously as I tie a basic knot on my fish hook...lol I like the way this knot holds up to a fighting fish better than the old standby that I have used for sometime now.

Although this was probably answered already, no way to tell as I haven't browsed the comments, but this is the uni version of a snell knot it is often easier for most to tie than a traditional snell but they both get the job done. NICE VID & THANXXX

It's a Snell knot (or Snelled Knot), people tie them differently but that's what it is. Excellent knot for keeping your hook pointed a certain direction, resists chaffing. Lindy-type rigs (walleye fishing) make good use of them. nice video too.

I've been using this knot for years and it's never broken. tie loop just a simple loop about and inch long. push it through the eye of the hook pull the loop over the hook and it forms a slip knot around the eyelet. it has never broken even under heavy shark fishing. the line breaks somewhere else if it's going to. but I use 200lb test braided steel cable leader. shark isn't getting away too easy. and shark is GOOD on the grille w/your favorite seasoning

We use that size hook in the ohio river. We throw a blue gill on it with 75-100lb test line out and leave it sit. Pulling in 20-35lb Cat fish almost every week. Most all the guys we fish with use that same knot also. We've never had any issues with it. Very strong. Great video. Still gotta figure the name of this knot because no1 knows the actual name...

nice. It is pretty much the same knot I tie except upside down. I do the exact same thing above the hook which is how i was taught. I will try it your way next time. And as often as I've went fishing and as much as I have been taught, I don't ever recall anyone telling me you loose weight capacity if you don't wet the line first. good to know! thanks. cool.

I use Braided line with a florocarbon leader. I fish in a river with lots of sharp rocks and snags, and in a lake with lots of very thick weeds. I like how if I do get caught up I can usualy just bend a hook and I am good to go, for really bad snags with bigger hooks my double uni knot pops and I only loose my lure and about 18 inches of leader. I am not one of those jerks who leaves 100 yards of line in the water to foul the boat motors.
