I will confirm that 'conditioning' training should not be overlooked and prioritized outside of technique. I did a back-to-school 5K fun run last weekend, just for that, fun, and to test my conditioning. I mean, I go to the gym just about daily and I set a 10K PB before the pandemic, so hard can it be?? It was so freaking hard. I got through it, but was totally uncomfortable for every, stinkin' mile. Painful reminder that it is easy to get into "shape" enough to get through a class, but roadwork and HIIT/Tabata training is imperative.

Man I felt this... I'm prepping for a triathlon end of next year and my first run I about died. Last time I ever ran for score or time was in the Marine Corps over 10 years ago. Here I am dying at 3 miles averaging a 9.5 to 10 minute pace per mile today (vs my 18:15 to 19:00 time at 3 miles when I was still in)... I realized it is time to get back to it hard. I get through my 30 minute to 1 hour workouts (cardio) just fine. That run around my neighborhood? Nah... dead to the world by the end. Get after it folks!

@@zacharybryant3865 yup. for me, this sh_t was easier 30 years and 30 pounds ago. Keep at it though. Swallow some pride and run what might feel like embarrassingly slow, it will reap benefits down the proverbial road. Get in the time, Zachary.

Beach drill for punching endurence. 1)Get in the water and swim. 2)Catch waves. 3)Swim across or against river current. 4)You spend your whole life on land and then you go to the water and stay on the land because what, sand or the deck of your boat are that special? Get in the water, you only stay out of the water because it's hard, and you could die. Every moment you're in deep water if you don't handle yourself well you'll die. Well that's fighting. But water is a peaceful and calming way to practice that, plus it's exhausting. 5)Sand is a wonderful medium for sprints, movement drills, and distance running, it's hard as hell but kind to the joints. However, you're gonna frolic in the sand naturally, what most people don't do is get in the water deep enough to swim. Get in the water, don't die. Wild water has some strange currents that seem like nothing, you won't be able to get out, stay smart and humble, the water is more than you, stronger than you, this is a good for fighting.

Do hight intensity interval training, set up some heavy bags, dumbells, tire flips, etc. Set up 5-8 "stations", where you are doing push ups, or box jumps, working a heavy bag, speed bag, hitting tire with a sledge, etc. and go 30 seconds max effort on each and move to next with no rest, then rest 1-2 min, and get back at it. Keep track of how many times you can do it in a row, how you feel, etc and watch your progress.
