Sugaridoo I have been slowly working on a paper piecing quilt from a book titled 1930’s Farmers Wife. It is been challenging. I noticed that you don’t sew on the lines in you paper pattern. Have you ever done that?

Hi! Yes I do that as well. This method is paper piecing with freezer paper, which I will explain a bit more in depth next week. When I use paper piecing paper I will sew through the paper.

Ohhh I love that you used your mom’s old Elna. I recently got an Elna SU (a slightly older model than your mom’s) that also uses the disks for special stitches. I love it!! One of the specialty stitches is a row of ducks!! So cute! I still haven’t quite figured out how to get those ducks to look good though. (I’m sure it’s user error.) Thanks for the freezer paper piecing tips!

Love your Vlogs. Your baby is the cutest, I have done a lot of paper piecing and always struggled with those funny angles. Your tip about folding the paper back is genius! Thanks so much. I have started Violet crafts Elephant pattern now, that my daughter was supposed to make for a friend a year ago. It finishes 60" and has heaps of angles. Thank you for sharing . :-)

I love your vlog, Irene (your name sounds like "Edina" when you say it!). Thanks for the tips on paper piecing, very helpful. I adore the way you pronounce "penguins" as "pingwings"... watch an episode of the Grant Norton Show on youtube, with Benedict Cumberbatch: he pronounces it the exact same way, and his first language is English! Holland looks like such a lovely country, I am definitely adding it to my list of must-go-to places (if I can schedule my trip so I can also attend one of your "crochet parties"--they look like SO much fun... even if everyone will likely be speaking Dutch, I'm sure I'd still enjoy myself!). Keep posting videos, you are terrific! ~Diana from Toronto, Canada

Omg! What a beautiful place... and that sewing machine is great... my aunt has an old Pfaff 260 where you can set different stitches kind of similar to that one...seeing you doing paper piecing might give the courage to try it...I have an 8 months old baby boy, I would love to learn how to do pants like that... maybe you can teach us... 💕

I love your vlogs!! I’ve never done paper piecing before. Is freezer paper sticky? So the fabric isn’t pinned to it? It’s only placed against it? I’d love to give it a go. I’d buy a book with your letter patterns of all the alphabet. Just like the ones in jules’s pengiun quilt. Looking forward to seeing the end result. Also I’m travelling to Holland at the end of April 😁😁

Oooh yes the alphabet! I forgot all about it. That is really a pattern that I should finish soon. If you would like to be the first one to test it for me sometime, just pop me an email at info@sugaridoo.com :) How was your trip to Holland? Freezer paper is indeed sticky when it's heated by an iron.

PLZzzzz HELP !!!! When I sew a part of my PP (using freezer paper, no tear techs) IT FINISHES BACKWARDS 😭 to how I drew it. OMGosh what do I do?
@Angela10226

I'm confused is the freezer paper in Holland different from everywhere else? I use freezer paper all the time the shiny side does adhere to the fabric but it does not have any stickiness that would damage your mom's ironing pad or anything else. That's why it's reusable because the shiny side sticks but is not sticky. Jules pants are so very cute! I have a vintage machine that uses cams with different stitches too mine is a Singer 1956, just love the way they sew and sound.
@Sugaridoo
@Sugaridoo 6 жыл бұрын
Late reply.. Sorry! No freezer paper isn't different here, at least I don't think so. Over time I got those sticky spots on my ironing board. I assumed it could only be from sticking freezer paper to it so many times. But if you do it all the time and never have this, then maybe it comes from something else! Maybe I should do a little experiment to see what happens if you stick it to the same fabric a hundred times ;)
