Hello there! Your new home seems really wonderful byt also a handful! My tip for you is that you don´t have to put energy in clearing any vegetation from wherever you plan to have a chicken coop. They will gladly do it for you in a week 😀.

The property has a lot of potential but it needs a lot of love. It has always been in one family but at a certain time they started to rent it out and didn't take care of it anymore. They had difficulties selling it though because of the memories they had with the grandparents. But in the end it maybe was the better decision to give the place a new lease on life instead of letting it get run down 👍

Too bad about the Elderflower. It makes a great cordial. Mixed with sparkling water it's very refreshing in summer. With alk the nettles, maybe you ought to consider a couple of goats. They'd certainly keep the nettles and brambles down. If you have a neighbor with goats, ask if you can borrow them for a few days. We have a couple of companies with herds of goats that will come and clear weeds, brambles and grasses. It would save you hours from cutting them yourselves.

Hey Abigail, we have lots more on the property but the ones growing on dirty ground we are going to take down, we don't enjoy taking down trees but some have to move so we can improve and clean the soil. We were going to have goats but we put a hold on it for now because taking on animals was going to give us an extra workload. We would like to have them in the future once we are more settled in and can give them the proper care. Anicia her bonus dad has goats and he was holding on to babies but we cancelled it for now. He indeed uses them to keep his fields clean for him! 👍

Italians in the northern area also love their rabbits. Your surrounds are looking wonderful. Love to see it cleared. Did you know chooks love porridge? I worried about the cold and tried it for our chooks. Bit of a burden, but cheap enough and none was wasted. Surprisingly they adore prawn scraps, scales, head, absolutely raced to be first. Odd.
@DomaineSauvage
@DomaineSauvage 4 ай бұрын
In Belgium they used to breed a lot of rabbits for eating as well. We never grew up with eating rabbit 😅. Yeah we moved from Belgium to here to be out of the city and enjoy nature more! I had to look up what chooks were 😂. The chickens are looking better now as this winter was very damp and rainy even in their coop. We haven't tried giving them porridge yet, we do give them all the scraps from the kitchen.

I have had chickens for years. If you let them free roam they are more likely to get killed by something. I lost chickens to raccoons, dogs, bob cats and hawks. Many of those predators broke into my coops. Also chickens destroy gardens and have no problem with coming in the house if you leave a door open. I love chickens but you have to provide a safe place for them and a rooster will not help.
@DomaineSauvage

Hey, in the later videos we will loose a chicken to a fox and one to a hunting dog... But we put our dog outside when the chickens are out and since then we have been fine!

Hey Lina, These videos are in the past so the fence has already been taken down! But you are right we lost some chickens and have since then put the dog outside while the chickens are free ranging! This seems to work for now 👍

I agree. Also it looks like the netting to roll over the top is to protect them from raptors. Just don’t throw away any of the netting or fencing as I’m sure you will be reusing it. You will save a lot of money by saving all forms of netting and fencing. Also to protect fruit from birds. It’s a beautiful property.
