Instant starting: 1 and 2 is hooked up to the plug, 2 and 3 is hooked up to a run capacitor 24μf

you can by put CAPSTOR 240V between the( #3 + W ) theerd line and any other lines ( 1+V ) or ( 2 + U ) = ( L + 1 + Capstore 1 --- N + 2 --- Capastore 2 + 3 ) . to reverse connect to else line ( L + 1 --- N + 2 + Capstore 1 --- Capastore 2 + 3 ).

Did this ever work in your band saw? I’m having the same issue: bought a 3 phase motor band saw by mistake

Is it possible to run one of these 3 phase motors to run off a DC battery?

Fun to play

Can I just run 220v to each hot wire individually from my breaker box directly each wire for power and run ground and neutral off their respective location in box also?

no. the phase offset will be all messed up.

I got a Emerson 3hp 3phase motor and it locks up and cant turn 360°, im in the same boat i only have home power for it until i get a power supply but i havent powered it safely yet.

If you are able to stop it with just you hand; how dose it start under load?
@dieselshadow4 жыл бұрын
This is done strictly for demonstration purposes, not for an actual load. You wouldn’t be able to get much load on this motor nor would it last very long in this application. It’s only using one winding out of three which is very hard on the motor. Since it’s only spinning itself, there’s not much of any load to speak of. Just to be clear, this 3 phase motor running on single phase is just for demonstration. 👍🏼

Can this be done with two 110v (220v) lines?
@dieselshadow4 жыл бұрын
In theory, yes. But it really depends on the motor. This isn’t something to really experiment with as you could easily blow the motor or get shocked. Maybe worse...
@faleridu5 жыл бұрын
Is this safe for the motor or for you for the motor does running this low voltage as well as one coil do any damage and because it is not grounded how dangerous is it for you
@dieselshadow5 жыл бұрын
It’s not something I’d recommend anyone just trying out to do. You’re absolutely correct, the motor isn’t grounded and if had a fault, you could be shocked or possibly electrocuted. It’s also not super easy on the motor for long term use. Again, not something I recommend, but I did this for demonstration purposes. 👍🏼

This is very clever and appreciate the reply on your vid. This is just a demo as stated, can you tell me why it's hard on the coils? Thanks again

Does it still run at 1140 RPM?
@dieselshadow4 жыл бұрын
Yup. 👍🏼

Why horsepower instead of Kilowatts? Horsepower is an old-school, outdated rating which doesn't reflect modern, consistent, base-10, power rating terminology.
@dieselshadow4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, I just use the system in place. I agree, the Metric system is superior in almost every way. I wish we would all convert over. It just makes more sense. 👍🏼

I was under the impression that a 3 phase motor was supposed to have 3 conductors, plus a neutral
@dieselshadow3 жыл бұрын
3 phase motors can be configured many many different ways from the factory. What you’re referring to is called a Y motor. The motor in the video here is a 🔼 Delta wired motor. It would be much easier for you to watch a short video on Y vs Delta rather than me trying to explain it. 👍🏼
