Pete, I've been confused about when a ground connection is needed, and when it's not. For example in some delta wye configurations it is on the primary, on some it's on the secondary. Is there an easy way to quickly infer where the ground is needed, without memorizing the circuit drawing for every situation?

In Canada, we only ground the Neutral of the Wye System. This is done in the transformer by connecting XO to the Bond. The Delta is an ungrounded system. However, in the US, there exists a 4-Wire Delta circuit in which one of the windings is center-tapped and grounded.

Yes, this is the first exercise we do in our class, building up to 3 phase RLC's. It is just a 3 phase resistive load with PF=1
