Great channel, and a refreshing change from the domestic guys .You are a great example for young aspiring learners. Just one thing though - if you’re changing the type of fuse then strictly speaking you have a new circuit which would warrant an EIC .

I would have gone for gM rather than aM ones as the aM's don't provide overload protection but do provide short circuit protection, especially with it being fed off a bus bar and having an RCCB installed. Nice to see the Industrial work being shown though. Loving the content. Keep up the good work and stay safe 😁👍

EDIT : I see that the connections in the busbar are also with the same coulor code.. Is this a normal colour code for UK? Blue neutral, brown L1, black L2 and Gray L3 over here. (Same as downstream of the 30mA). Strange.. Am I missing something but the neutral looks to be inverted on the 30mA after installation? In on the right and out on the left....?

Do you have an approved voltage tester proving device? I noted you mentioned the Fluke T5 tester. Do you use that for proving dead? I only also because they arent built to GS38, and although they're a great piece of kit for diagnostic work, I wouldnt trust my life with one to be honest. Cant beat a set of test lamps like you used. Not bad work though, the Lewden sockets are decent gear, and usually a decent price.

@@residualelectrical ah there's the confusion. It appeared that you said "lashed in singles" and then when you took the old one apart you used the same conduit adaptor with singles in the same situ as before. I had no idea there was conduit behind. It's not that clear on a video. Btw, not trying to pick fault, your work is very similar to mine and its clear you know your onions 👍

As it was a 30ma RCCB dont you need to test at 5x also and that is the result you put down on the certificate?
@360stav
@360stav 3 жыл бұрын
Always test full 6 rcd tests, record the highest value at x5. If you're testing for additional protection. On a TT both values ( x1 and x5) should be recorded as the rcd is being used for fault protection.
@steve11211
@steve11211 3 жыл бұрын
@@360stav x5 test only needs to be done on RCD's providing additional protection so 30ma RCD's. x1 should be under 300ms, x5 should be under 40ms. You are correct the highest value at x5 is recorded unless you are doing RCD's that are greater than 30ma in which case the x1 should be recorded. The earthing system has no affect and there is no room in the IET schedule of test results to put a second value. An RCD can be used as fault protection on non TT'd systems such as circuits with a long run that require a low zs value that is not achieved although it should be generally designed as to not exceed the Zs value where possible.. You often find TT properties have 100ma RCD at the incomer so 5x load is not required.

At 3 minutes in you didn’t test dead properly, seen you use a proving unit before but why be complacent just because your in a rush? Take your time. Another fault was how did you know your friend upstairs wasn’t going to turn the power on whilst you were working on it? How did you know that it was that socket, it could be on a contactor and always be dead until a sensor has been triggered for example? I’d always test whilst it’s live then get someone to turn the power off then prove that it has killed that supply, then as for the other just use a LOTO system again, not being used due to time.
