Hi I am so glad that you published this video. I had a ceiling rose with a loose connection, after turning off the light switch I then started to disconnect the ceiling rose, it gave me a "bit of a jolt" and I ended up, on the floor, with a ceiling rose in my hand and a lot of loose wires hanging from the ceiling. Without your video I wouldn't have had a clue how to fix it, but now I am the owner of a ceiling with a nice new light that works and no loose connection's 😁💡😁💡😁💡😁 P. S. I would like to point out that I am a chef and not an electrician. Thanks again for the video. Steve T

In New Zealand 3 plating is considered a bit of a short cut. It uses slightly less cable than feeding the switches but it leaves a live feed at the light even with the switch off which is a danger to a home owner giving electrical work a try. It also means the whole circuit has to isolated to work on the fitting rather than taping the switch or putting the switched wire in a connector.

My old light setup was like the one in this picture but the new light fixture has the earth connection on the centre hole with then 2 others for L and N. Would the looping wires (from the ceiling) go to the center hole connector where the earth is or would I put the live looping with the live wire in the one hole then the neutral looping in the neutral hole with the neutral wire?

trying to wire up a new bathroom light. prob is it only has 4 terminals but 9 wires. the 3 wires for the fitting r already attached when i bought it but cant workout how to connect the wires from the switch. terminal 1 says nautral loop blue or black. terminal 2 earth loop. terminal 3 switch wires blue with brown sheathing terminal 4 live loop brown or red. But the switch wires r blue on 1 wire brown on the other. neither r blue and brown . the wire already on the switch teminal pre wired is brown. So how would i wire that up? Presuming both the blue loop wires go in terminal 1 and the 2 brown wires go in terminal 4. but cant workout where the switch wires go. 1 will go in terminal 3 but dont know which, then the other wire left over where does that go? Been waiting 6 months for the landlord to fix the bathroom light as it just kept blowing the fuse when i turned it on so trying to fit in a new dome bathroom light as the old 1 was a pendant type and rusted out.

Can you explain a Klix for emergency lighting where you have loop in which I was told to put brown/s but black as permanent live
@journeyonin5 жыл бұрын
@@mrmurphypiers1241 Thanking you, so to summarise, black powers emergency lights and brown powers non-emergency lights but both could be on the same circuit. The situation that I used this system was for emergency lights, outside and inside for emergency exits on two different doors (through box and end box joined together and through box and through box at each door). The only thing that is now confusing me is for these certain 2 doors we came directly off a canilis type busbar for our power, converted to right colours at the canilis plug. I know about using links to switch live within light fitting for maintained.

Hi. Yes you could disconnect at the lighting point the second light that comes on by removing the switching line, neutral and cpc that goes to that light. You can also two way the existing 2 lights with the extra cable between switch’s as stated in the video.
@GSHElectrical7 жыл бұрын
Hi. You could move at light one the switching to the other light and put it in the loop and at light 2 move the current switching line and put that in the loop then run a new cable from light 2 to a switch and connect as stated in the video. Thanks for watching GSH Electrical
