Holy Hotdog I’d recommend going to an american college so you can get your name out there

besides what he said try out for teams. Mlb teams hold tryouts around the US. Look them up and attend to get your name to the directly team. I went to 2 when I was in High School.

As a former collegiate catcher and student of exercise science, I have to say this video offers absolutely no good information for young catchers. I am not sure who these guys are, but they have no business giving catching instructions. Wow...smh. Anticipation of the pitch and throwing to the bag was all they got right.

BuRN_27 you are a gaming channel. John played in the MLB.

@@ethanriccio2344 Highlighting the two videos I have uploaded on my personal channel does not discredit my knowledge of the game of baseball or the mechanics and strategies of playing. As previously stated, I am a former catcher and previously played at the collegiate level, while also having experience at the semi pro level. Once again, with that said I can say this video is terrible and does nothing for young catchers.

Most interesting thing about this video is the position of his front shoulder and the glove hand, which is facing the pitcher and 2nd base. The glove hand position is something he teaches with his pitching. The question is why should a catcher hold his hand that way as opposed to the glove side hand facing in towards the catcher?On the negative side, how about getting in a secondary stance? Got to get in the proper stance first. No catcher throws from the stances he demonstrated.

You can definitely tell that guy in the polo has never caught before. As a catcher and a student of the game, listening to what he's saying I could tell he doesn't have any actual experience. The channel is typically helpful but this vid wasn't the best and could create a lot of bad habits for young players

I teach my catchers to break at the shoulder. Should’ve blades should already be flexed, the ball should be “delivered” to the throwing arm so that the only movement the throwing arm does is fire forward. During the break, feet should already in motion to line up with target. I also work A LOT with hip flexor flexibility. My girls sit in a proper squat, hands in a praying 🙏 position while using elbows to put pressure on the inside of the knee, stretching the flexors.

Poor advise here. All catchers should have a secondary, more explosive position for runner on base scenarios. Second, the method of the long wind arm position is the pop time killer… got to be strong enough to go right to the ear, turn and fire everything forward.

So basically I want to be a catcher but whenever I get in the catchers stance It hurts a tiny bit and I can’t get up fast how do I improve this and be able to

More stretching is what you probably need
@dagruddicker222 жыл бұрын
besides stretching youmust stegnthen your legs. sit against the wall to build up your legs. Make sure your back is flat and work for time. legs should be bent atleast 90

I disagree with a couple things from this video and slightly different opinion to the comments as well. At the youth level, a catcher should not have a "secondary position" as most of these stances limit your ability to block or correctly frame a pitch. If you put your right foot slightly back and open your hips (for a right hand thrower) you limit your ability to block an inside pitch or even a wild outside pitch. You should be able to have the same stance whether there are people on base or not; at the youth level. Once you get to a level where pitchers are more accurate and the threat of a wild pitch isn't as high, sure you can start looking at secondary positions. As far as their information on the throwing arm, they made a statement of the elbow above the shoulder, etc. "hand to ear" and saying all of this is wrong. I completely disagree. Go look at the Yadier Molina video and watch his arm movement from glove to ear to cocked position to throw. Ball to ear, replace ball with elbow and throw. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4LQZpydedpliZo

Don’t try to build a catcher off this info. This is a recipe for analysis paralysis. If a catcher has any talent at all, their own style will be better than anything shown here.
