Right on Jimbo! We used to use "taconite" balls back in the day. Taconite is iron ore processed into balls for transportation. We used to find them by railroad tracks (they would fall off the railcars heading for the foundry). Right size, right weight, right price - free.

JoergSprave was doing this with throwing darts, I'm waiting for someone to attach a bowmag to the tip of those. Damn it someone just updated the list again.

Where do you you guys buy clay marbles? I can get glass ones for next to nothing at a rummage sale.

I really like the different style of videos you guys are doing. This and the editor guy. The self defense videos are just too old to relate to.

25-ish yards maybe; not even close to 50. Dollar store marbles are the cheapest and smoothest ammo you can get. Works well and is reasonably tough and can be used again if recovered. Denser ammo with higher sectional density will hit a little harder. Smallish ball bearings, or big lead buckshot is denser yet, but be mindful of lead contamination and wash your hands. Doesn't matter much about how powerful the bands are to begin with as you can, and will change out bands as they break.

Note: you don’t ‘fire’ a catapult you ‘shoot’ it . There is no fire to fire it with! Same as with Archery.
