At approximately 10:50 "nobody cares about your story" is absolutely true, with exceptions. It appears that if your story is about your adventures, important events, how successes were achieved, etc, then make the story video, but sell it as something others can relate to, learn from, or be genuinely entertained.

This was hands-down one of the BEST videos I've seen on storytelling and how it relates to marketing and connecting with your audience. Also confirmation that my target audience will likely be in a similar place with similar struggles that I've had in the past. I'll definitely be rewatching to take notes. Thank you!!

I'm so happy I've come across this video. For a few months, I've been stuck with a project that I've been adamant in posting because it heavily included my "storytime" I've been second guessing since I felt that it was too personal for me but I've finally decided on posting it anyway. I'm about 90% done editing the video. I really hope that my audience will like it and I hope you guys can watch the video as well. Thank you so much @thinkmediapodcast for this talk. @10:52 Absolutely right! I was writing that! I don't think it's THE story, I think it's that you can relate. Yea I think it's awesome to learn certain fascinating things about people, but what I go back to, are the channels of the people I can relate to! Like in my niche for example (gardening/ farming), I like to watch how others grow certain things, how to Fertilize, etc. But I find myself watching the peoples channels that have shared things about themselves, that I can relate to... people that grew up in a household similar to mine, people that had struggles similar to mine, people that grow their own food for the same reasons as I do, people that started growing flowers to give away because it put a smile on people's face, etc.

This chat was just what I needed!! I recently built a course on a topic I feel super strong about (and have years of schooling, certs and education in) and I finally got the nerve to make a course and start promoting it - but I’m hearing crickets too! I love some of the tips today and definitely know I’d benefit from learning how to market better without being salesy. That’s a huge struggle of mine!

I just posted a new video a few hours ago and i got a comment from a subscriber saying how much my words have helped her personally. It was such a brilliant comment to get because i have a collection of videos where i take a walk or hike around a specific location, i start by introducing the place then chat about the thoughts inspired by this place. From the start it has always been a very organic way to speak about myself and the things i need to hear in a therapeutic way. So to find out that my words and thoughts resonate with my audience feels amazing 😊❤

I’ve been told that I’m a storyteller. The things we discover about ourselves. I told a story a few weeks ago on stage at a university. I pre-recorded a video that was scheduled to post about the same time I was speaking on stage telling that same story. The college president was present and presented me with an opportunity afterwards (because of that story and presentation). The conclusion summed it up that’s unmatched. Titled: Having To Make A Tough Decision | ECU. My story was their story.
