Been doing this everyday for 10 days now. Began with the metronome 2 days ago. I can already tell a big difference in my timing and just overall playing it more smoothly. Great exercise.

@@timdaleybluesguitar101 Update. I've been playing this for a month now, everyday for 2-4 minutes. I'm up to 140 bpm now. No mistakes. I've noticed that my right hand is getting more relaxed. Sounds much more smooth.

This was very helpful as I often learn only to forget & struggle with hiw to incorporate stolen licks/solos without doing a oaint by numbers.

Thanks Tim! Excellent and timely for me. I know this logically but tend to move on to the next thing before I really have a part down. MMM will help me remember.

The three 'M's' - I like that! But what you are saying is so true. Reminds me of what Tommy Emmanuel kept saying about how he got so good on acoustic guitar - discipline and your three 'M's'. Enjoyed the video and your presentation manner - I'm subscribed. 👍😃

Cool lick!! It sounds like a passing lick to me. So where would you use it?
@timdaleybluesguitar1019 ай бұрын
Good question. It's in the key of A. It fit's perfectly across Am (as it's actually a mix of A dorian and A melodic minor - very bebop). But you could also play it over A7 which creates a kind of A bebop dominant sound (it works there because you can mix minor and major over a major blues - but you are kind of shoe horning it in there, it's not really it's natural environment!) But it works better over the D7 chord, Because it's A melodic minor which is the same as D Lydian dominant. So if you play it over the D7 chord exactly in the position I played it you get D lydian dominant, which is very cool! I've got a whole bunch of those sorts of licks I play. I love them!

Think you've misunderstood what I was saying. Doing this won't necessarily make you sound like everyone else. It will just mean you improve at the fastest rate possible. Therefore it's a great thing to do!
