Real great lesson. I use some of this stuff in my playing but i know nothing about scales. So this is really helpfull. I like it that you don’t make it too theoretical. Thanks 👍

Do you play those two notes at the same time…low note with pick top note with pointer fingernail? It sounds great. (Btw, it was because of Hendrix’s version of “All Along The Watchtower” that I coined the term “whammybar” back in either 68 or 9. Not Lonnie Mack. I’m the guy. A nobody. Lol Big deal, eh? 😊(True)

8:25 I got that da da da (sht! Here we go again!) You say Clapton but I got it from Gilmour. Did David Gilmour nick it from Eric Clapton? (Yes, I said “nick” because I watch way too much Britbox! Go Vera!) 😊

When I was going to blues jams, during one of the revival periods, hardly any of the blues 'specialists' could do anything in a major key! TBH I could only do it, via the 'West Coast' period stuff of the 'country blues' style, and the intial Chuck Berry period, which fuelled the first 'beat boom'. Someone worth checking is Ian Bairnson. His website is still up and in the discography section are lots of audio clips, but they're linked via 'shockwave/flash' elements, so you need something like Ruffle browser extension to access them. There's some youtube clips of him playing blues, and it demonstrates how the blues influenced his other playing.

You've got a strange accent. You're not, by any chance, from the "Surrey delta," are you? Stupid jokes aside, great video lesson! Cheers from the USA!

You can't play the blues unless you have suffered. I have played bass in so many blues bands with bad guitarist that I have suffered so much and now considered the best in my area.

Love it. This overview of learning the blues language, resonated with me because it reinforced many of the things I suspected . It also made me wonder about the emotional side and what it was about blues, that attracted me , in the first place , years ago.
@timdaleybluesguitar1015 сағат бұрын
Yes I agree, there is a lot of emotion in Blues. But that is something anyone can tap into with the right mindset.

4:17 To me that’s verging on Alvin Lee, to start “I’m Going Home”. (I use my pinky then ring finger for a few quick pull offs (Eb,D,C…landing on A,then a quick D. God! I hate trying to be articulate in two languages! Lol) Anyway, keep going. Oh wait! I have to undo pause. (I’m 70, you know, so…)

Another great video. I know so many blues chords, triads and diads etc that I would be a pretty good 2nd guitarist. When it comes to taking a lead…I suck. Your vids are (eloping. (What the hell does that mean?! I meant “helping”. Lol Spellcheck my ass) Thanks again! Cheers!

Any lessons coming up about blues RUB licks of notes that are rubbing against each other. Clapton cream live album four CD box set and the reunion 2000s concert often does these blues rubbing notes. I think the concept is it's dom7 triad notes a half step above the key to rub these notes against the key or chord tones.

Dude, really like your vids. Should have dozens of more followers than you have. Gnailing the 7’s and 9’s! Bends: love that part (8:55). I saw that reversi guitarists would bend down because it was a stronger way to do it. Anyways, carry on. Enjoy your show. 🤙🏼

Most importantly The blues playing is suppose to be replicating singing. You’re suppose to sound like a human singer. Singers don’t bend pitch really fast, they don’t do vibrato really fast or same same. Listen to blues singers, replicate their voice. Learn the vocal melody in the guitar, copy it, during the solo, quote parts of the vocal melody. This is number one Thank me later

I'm 70 now and have just picked up my guitar again after 20 years... because, life. Those 20 yr old strings probably need replacing. But for now, I'm just trying to get my hand around the F as I rediscover the fretboard. I still have the sound in my head. Thanks for giving us all such an incredible map to help find it.

Yeah, but now you will competing with the hundreds of SRV prodigies that learned off KZbin. Good luck. I have been playing bass since I was 17 and am now 69, it's all about the groove, not the amount of notes or the slap pop stuff.

You must be able to play the 3 chords in all 5 places. So in the key of E: EAB-DGA-CFG-ADE-GCD (all Dominant 7 forms). Knowing this is how to move all over the neck, always knowing both the letter name of the note as well as the INTERVAL (b3 or whatever) that it is against the chord.- If you don’t know those 2 things (like: I’m playing G# the major 3rd of E7) then you are lost. (Sorry to be so rude.)
@nickrouse84262 күн бұрын
I just screenshotted this so I can play them later and see what you mean. Be rude. It's how we learn 😀
@timdaleybluesguitar1012 күн бұрын
I agree, you need to be able to play chords everywhere, in lots of different ways. Lots of people seem to think there is only one or two ways of playing a dominant seventh chord (or whatever) whereas, in reality there are a massive amount of ways. And understanding intervallic relationships allows you to see this information all over the neck. You aren't being rude in the slightest!
