I finally got my paddle board. I got my son and wife one and I tried my wife’s black fin x and it it is crazy easy to paddle too a kayak. I love it hopefully go on some adventures and fish off this thing. Thanks for the advice. Like to do an over night camp trip here on center hill lake TN. Just amazing light. Thanks again.

One major addition until you are totally comfortable. Don't look down at the board. Keep eyes on the horizon. Looking forward will help you stay more stable especially when first launching or rising from a seated or kneeling position.

That's weird, I found it better to concentrate on the board and then on the horizon. It's sometimes difficult at first not to be stiff on the board, but once you're riding and experimenting, you realise how easy it can actually be. Where I learned, the water is very cold and sharp, big stones in the water, you definitely don't want to fall, hurt yourself or even just freeze if something goes wrong. 😅It's a completely different story in warm water without any danger.

@@Xantylon74 I began learning on a lake in November. It was very cold and I was pushing 50 so balance was not what it once was and I did not want to take a swim. In my case looking down was bad. Seeing every jiggle of the board as I tried to stand made it hard to compensate. At least in my case looking ahead at the bank/horizon made more sense to my brain. Might not be that way for everyone though. Young bucks probably work differently lol.

it hurts my knees to kneel on the board, even with gel kneepads. So for me it's either sit or stand. I found that paddling around sitting on the board, cross-legged or similar, for several sessions helped me get a sense of how the board is moving below me, and eventually I was able to stand up and paddle standing. 4:22 I like the idea of swinging the board to challenge your balance, in really shallow water. You can fall off as many times as you like and it's easy to get back on . I'll try that next time.

Focus on looking out to the horizon when paddling! When you look down for an excessive amount of time it's easier to become disoriented and lose balance.

Hello! Just came across your page & love the videos so far. I’m just got into paddle boarding & I’m in love with it, probably a stupid question but you said in this video not to wear your leash in moving waters, why is this? Again it’s probably something I should know but just got into to the sup board scene lol.
@TripSmith Жыл бұрын
Glad you are enjoying the videos!!!! If you go over in moving water (often times a river), there is a chance the leash could get wrapped around something which could pin you underwater..... That would not be a good situation. If you lose the board, you can get to shore in that situation. However out in open water with wind, you go over, you could lose the board as it's blown away from you and have a long swim.
@Atheist81 Жыл бұрын
@@TripSmith OK thank you I’ll keep that in mind. I didn’t know that I’m kind of new to all this. I appreciate the response and look forward to more videos. Thank you. t

Why is wearing a leash on moving water, a danger? Can you expand on that?
@TripSmith Жыл бұрын
If you go over in running water there's a chance that the line could wrap around a rock or a stick log. This could then pin you underwater which of course would not be good

@@Keestral there is no hard set rule or current speed or things like that that determine it. It's kind of use your best judgment after being aware of the dangers.

Hey mate are you sure 12 psi is enough for that board? I see it bending all the time like crazy, not a stiff product at all. For sure I prefer my Jobe. It is almost a hard board not that flex, don't like it. Sorry mate
@TripSmith Жыл бұрын
It seemed sufficient there. But I do prefer a board with a higher PSI rating ;)
