Thank you Dr. Gray for all you do! When I get into medical school, it’ll have been partly because of your amazing videos!

Thankful I came across this. I was in between deciding whether I should mention why I chose PA over MD in my personal statement or save it for the interview. I was in similar situation when’re I have shadowed NP, PA and MD. Now I know.

Could you make a video explaining how to fill out the GPA portion of the AMCAS application if you have retaken classes and used grade forgiveness. Does AMCAS factor in the grade forgiveness, or do they average it out. How do they calculate that.
@MedicalSchoolHQ3 жыл бұрын
not sure it needs its own video - every class is put in. No grade forgiveness. Check out whatsmygpa.com

How about just treat people like people regardless of what you look like or what they look like

This guy is over obsessed with the community vs being obsessed with being the best for whoever is waiting for them inside the room. I'm Hispanic and disabled and I don't give a shit what the doctor is like so long as I can get help.

Does anyone have two sets of seeds? A socially acceptable reason and a socially unacceptable reason that they want to become a physician? 👀 asking for a friend... also, what if the unacceptable reason drives just a bit harder towards the goal.... still for the friend.
@alphaspartan3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we all are aware that in addition to being able to help people and learn science, doctors can make half a million dollars per year and get on TV as heroes lol. Obviously don't lead with the secondary reasons but it's a lie to pretend we don't all know about them and agree they're nice bonuses. On the other hand if your second seed is that you're a drug addict and you really want easier access to medical drugs that's probably something you should most definitely keep to yourself lol.
@gracevasquez14093 жыл бұрын
Yeah my socially unacceptable reason is that the American medical education system is racist and I want to be the doctor that changes that narrative (especially because of the horrendous maternal mortality rates in the US) and so how do I tell medical schools to do a better job without telling them to do a better job lol
@alphaspartan3 жыл бұрын
@@gracevasquez1409 I don't think that's considered socially unacceptable with the BLM movement blowing up last year. You'd probably sound like you're passionate about social justice. Now whether the person who reads your app or interviews you agrees with your point of view, however, you never know. It's a 50/50 shot of helping or hurting you lol. I would say include it but be professional about it. Part of what they're looking for is someone who is in control emotionally and can discuss stuff like that without getting carried away.
@gracevasquez14093 жыл бұрын
@@alphaspartan oh thank you!! I have yet to figure out how to put this reasoning into adequate professional language but I’ll keep in mind not to get carried away with the emotional aspect!

@@gracevasquez1409 how's it racist? I've met tons of Hispanic and black doctors.
