I've found this video 6 years after it was posted and I highly doubt that anyone unsubscribed because of Tana's story. We adopted through foster care and I have, at times, thought the same kind of thoughts about one of my children being just like their bio mom. So I appreciated Tana's story. I'm not alone. But it is not good to let that thought go unchallenged.

Dr Amen and Tana start with the reminder that stress is at the cause of many if not all health problems. My network completely agrees and this program offers specific action on how to address automatic negative thinking or ANTs that can drive us into depression, anxiety and more. It is wonderful to hear them address the chemical reactions. Thank you.

I needed to know this and your examples were spot on! My first name is also Tana- which I've been told translates in "Native American" to "No More Tears!"- I am considering getting help for my brain- I have sent this as a link to friends and family after all who doesn't struggle with ANTS from time to time. Thank you both- you make a "Dynamic Couple!"

I am so grateful and thankful to have found you both! I have the beautiful privilege of learning my parenting skills from my three teenage boys. Not every moment is a story book and we all have those emotions and thoughts. I think it would be a better place if we all shared our low moment s with one another so we realize it's normal and can be moved on from rather than letting it chip away at us.

You are extraordinary together. I learn a lot from your interruptions because you're pointing important things that make your husband's explanation more understandable to those who do not work in psychiatry. Thank you both for everything you do for us. Indeed, not all the thoughts that go through our heads are true. They depend on the experiences we have experienced (from childhood to the present), the education we have had, the physical and mental health we were at the time of the incident, etc. But what do we do when, after answering the question in writing, the answer is: "It's true what you think and feel?"

Just want to say thank you to you both from the bottom of my heart. This video just snapped me out of a depressive mood in an instant after I finished writing down my thought and challenged it, to quickly prove it was obviously wrong. I'm starting to realise what my therapist and sister have been saying about me are true, I'm too hard on my self. And not everything is my fault, but I will make sure to keep this practist up, for my mental state and my hopeful future where I hope I'm in a better state. I don't want my negitively thoughts to stop me from doing and completing my hobbies and passions in life anymore.

I have had negative thoughts swirling around in my head. Alzheimers has been going through my family, and I have been wearing that I might get it too. I know I need to distract my mind with better thoughts and focus on living life now. I need to be in the present moment. One morning I was doing my stretches, and then I just started drumming on my legs. It was an intense release. I want to attend drumming circles in my area to be with community and refocus my energies.

Both Tana and dr.Amen had great things to share. I learned a lot from both equally, so am happy that both had a chance to share their experiences. Though, I do think the dynamic of the conversation and the jumping around was a bit distracting. So, to gain the most out of the video I had to focus on each individual's points. I think it would have been easier and more beneficial if there were two seperate videos. One of dr.Amen and one of Tana.

My main problem is anger. Sadness I hate, so it was easy to destroy. Anxiety I hate, so it was easier to ignore. But anger... Anger has empowered me and made me the warrior I am today, putting stupid amounts of money in my name in a time-frame most slaves think is impossible. The problem now is transitioning into a warrior that doesn't rely so much on anger. It's addictive and probably not healthy or sustainable over the long-term, but it has netted me the best results, so far. How do I keep the good results without indulging anger so much?

It’s possible to think positively if you KILL YOUR ANTS! We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with fear and bad news that triggers our automatic negative thinking-ANTS! Need proof? Just turn on the TV or cruise through the net. Doom and gloom stories dominate the headlines-because fear makes us pay attention. In fact, our brains are wired to focus on the negative in order to avoid things that might hurt us. Fear definitely serves a purpose, but what happens when all we seem to focus on are negative thoughts? Bad things. Take a look at these compelling facts: Every thought you have releases chemicals in the brain. Hopeful thoughts release chemicals that help you feel happy and calm. Negative thoughts release chemicals that make you feel stressed and sad. If what you bring your attention to determines how you feel and act, focusing too much on negative thoughts can lead to destructive behaviors-behaviors that can ruin your important relationships and ruin your mind. Enough of the bad news. There is good news! You can learn how to kill your automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) and focus on the positive. Here’s how…
