I was falling for the "eating so much" mind trap a few years ago. This is really important, and you are exactly right. Overestimating your caloric intake is easy.

Nice reminder of quality and eating. Noticed earlier days that 3 days of running consumed too much to get muscles. Recovery from cardio takes much of the nutrition needed for muscles. Had to ease out of 5-20km runs.

I don't understand how being in 5 to 15 reps range can be good because for a push up it's not even hard to do for me and in that case I need more sets anyway to keep the intensity or I don't understand something?

Hi, nice vid. One question wrt the 20 reps lower body: Does that really mean you do just 20 squats? I can do 100. Why stop at 20? Or does that mean you switch to pistols when you can do 20 of the normal squats?
@BodyweightMuscle
@BodyweightMuscle 8 жыл бұрын
Hi, once you can do more than 20 reps, you have to increase the intensity. Add for example a heavier kettlebel or weighted backpack (www.homemademuscle.com/how-to-make-a-proper-weighted-backpack-for-10/).

Hey Anthony, I have an important question for you :) : I always keep the reps around 10-15 as you say for upper body and I increase intensity when it comes the right moment; but what about the rest time? When it gets counterproductive? For example I do some circuits (10-12 reps) resting 30 secs between exercises and 1m30s between rounds (I already wrote you once about my new circuits routine ); what do you think about? Thanks in advance and greetings from italy buddy!
@BodyweightMuscle
@BodyweightMuscle 8 жыл бұрын
Hi P, thats good resting time for circuits. In general, its also good to switch your breaks now and then when you're doing more strength oriented routines. For example, if youve been working on 2 minutes rest for a long time, you can switch it to 3 for a bit. Thanks man, for your answer and advices :) so the best is mix sometimes and not to be stuck on a point forever; anyway as I told you , I started to do these routines and now the rest is much less than before staying at 30 secs. I keep 1 day a week to heavy lifting pull ups and bigger rest pauses (2-3 minutes). I must admit I thought I was quite an "expert" of the bodyweight and calisthenics world but I am learning every day from your videos! Your channel is really the best by far around here along with Jeff Cavaliere's channel! Keep going!!! Andre

well that only makes sense, but one more thing. Im currently working out 3 times a week -Monday -Wednesday -Friday rest 4 days are my rest days because like I said im begginer. My question is how long should I keep with my 3/week routine until I increase my workouts a bit more, my goal is to workout 5/week from Monday to Friday? should I do it or wait little longer? Thanks you are awesome ps I started 3 mounts ago.

I eat around maintenance. Is that enough to build muscle? Cuz if I eat more, I’ll get heavier and training for skills like the planche will become harder, right?

Can you go above 5-15 reps if your comfortable, or would it be working endurance and not muscle at that point?
@BodyweightMuscle

Ahoy, you can, but if you want to focus on hypertrophy its better to stick to 15 and below.

That skills love you're videos and simple explanations and they way it's broken down. I'm a shiny guy I always have been. As I get older I find all I do is put weight on my stomach but that it. But I'd like to ask is there a good way to eat as much as you can on a budget as this is the one area I think affects me putting on weight.

Hi James, the first important thing on gaining quality weight is getting stronger as you increase the calories. If you're not challenging the your self when you're gaining weight , more of it is going to be fat. Watch my previous video called "Skinny fat - Cut or bulk" kzbin.info/www/bejne/d37UiGiPgLuLgKc

Thanks for taking the time to the reply yeah that totally makes sense I think my mistake is not challenging myself enough I used to run 3 times a week and not much work out, Ive switched it round so I am working out more but its like you said I need to make it more challenging old habits are hard to change I guess.

Wait.. I just realized, why do we not just increase Protein intake if we want to build muscle? Calories do nothing but fuel the muscles right?
@tonyblind2001

why do you wanna go higher reps with bodyweight? can't you just up the intensity like you do with weights?
@elbatuko3310
@elbatuko3310 8 жыл бұрын
... Yeah, but there is dumb people that think that doing a lot of push ups (For example) means they are strong. But they don't do them with intensity as you say. Mind to muscle helps a lot, just like Anthony said.

well endurance is a nice feat to have. usually tiny guys can o a lot of pullups i think progressions are better though. It is necessary to get bigger. But I bet that for the average weight guy one that is able to do 30+ pullups is pretty fucking strong though and a progression by itself if you werent born superman. so whatever

Slow reps=better quality.
@Unidentifying
@Unidentifying 8 жыл бұрын
+FraRu b yes you are right too. you can even do isostatic holds and such, i heard these styles will grow the most. my point is that if you are able to do 30+ pullups with an average to high bodyweight slow... or ...fast you are fucking strong, its basically impossible to argue tht, unless the form is off. Thats on top of the endurance. ALso, fast reps usually evolve explosiveness of muscle, which is also not bad to have at all. I would think that doing combinations is the best way to go for allround fitness doing calisthenics. Sadly i can only do about 9 pullups per set at the moment, but im really tall.. i love doing them super slow too mate. its a great feeling. But who wouldnt love to do a high amount of pullups, that shit is crazy son and mad respect if u can. One arm muscle up endboss of this universe though :D
