I lived with half doors/uppers for 6 years on my TJ and never minded any of the differences that full doors would have given me. The thought of someone taking a knife to the top crossed my mind but if there’s nothing to steal then it is what it is. I loved being able to have my top down and uppers in the back if it were to start raining.

To be fair, if you're going through a McDonald's drive-thru, they usually have an awning on the building or near the windows to keep you from getting wet

I love half doors, but it's the pricing that makes me hate them. Over here (Netherlands) you pay 1200 Euro's for a used set.

Just picked up a set of Rugged Ridge JK half doors for my 2dr. The guy also gave me two sets of uppers, an entire Bestop black diamond top with surrounds & hardware, some tail light guards, and took pics of our Jeeps together. All for $500. Whether I wind up liking them or not in the long term, the deal was way too good to pass up. The plastic doors don't seem so bad honestly, but I'm sure the Mopar half doors are nearly worth their price in quality comparatively... However the Rugged Ridge ones make me feel like I'm in a TJ (complete with ABS plastic & soft grab handles) and I love it.

I had both full and half doors for my JK. Ran hard top and full doors in winter. Half and soft in summer. I loved the half doors. Still had open air feel but with less of a go-cart like experience with doors off.

I have a CJ5. If you get normal doors, the window gets in the way, and the only way to open them is from the side.

Had full doors on my yj, half doors on tj, and back to full doors on my jk and can confirm, used to get super wet on rainy days with half doors if I had the windows zipped down and started raining

Can't stand 'em! If I could have my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn 4.0L w/ the doors and top off all year long, I would! For me, it's all or nothing. There's nothing like beach wheelin' in an un-cocooned TJ for that great open air experience. 😎🏖🏝🌊 The only thing worse than half doors is a 4 door limo heep with a hard top cocooning its passengers. 🙄

I agree: half doors are less than ideal. In my opinion they sharply and forcefully inhale gaseous posterior emissions. My reasonings are a little different: I run top and doorless more often than not, and when I do, it’s a softtop and soft doors. My wife doesn’t like the open doorway, so she likes her half doors. For me, it’s just more to lift off and try to store. My Jeep is my four wheel motorcycle. A friend of my daughter’s was in wife’s YJ and wound up locking the half door, with the soft upper installed; and proceeded to break the handle. I had to bend the heck outta the upper to get it off so I could get the door panel off and unjam the lock. (Used doors, we don’t have keys). I got it open and removed the lock actuator rod and replaced the door handle latch. All that hassle because of a goofy half door and a dumb teenage boy. Besides, they don’t allow airflow around my feet and legs and feel claustrophobic. Plus it’s a softtop and with top down, it’s just a mundane convertible with half doors…halfway committed to full topless Jeep enjoyment. Just huck the top and doors and get in the wind!!
