Half Door Installation on a Jeep JL Wrangler

had half doors on my 80s wrangler- makes highway driving higher fatigue from wind noise and buffering. but its also nice to remove quickly for nice nights or a near motorcycle experience.

As an older Jeep owner (LJ), I usually curse the torx bolts. But in this case I like the use of them on the hinge studs. A much cleaner look other than ordinary nuts.

I can see the big difference how that would increase the driving pleasure especially when driving to Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and all great places around you and beyond.. Looks way cooler too! When I was growing up in Sparks (1970-1979) trucks and Jeep’s we’re definitely a Wayalife. Now in my early 50”s you got me all excited about Jeep’s once again. I’m really looking forward to the next mods guys!

I’ve got half doors with hard uppers on my jk and other than the obstruction of the side view mirrors and the small military sliding window styling I’ll never want full doors on a Jeep again. They’re awesome!

I love my two door. Drive it stagecoach all year. Have a "back window" right behind front seat and no back seat. Some "different" things are nice others I don't get. Those doors I don't get. Hey but that is what makes a jeep. Drive it like you like it. KEEP JEEPING!

Not sure if you are aware but when you remove your full doors there is a nice carrying hand hold. From the outside of the door put your arm through the window a grab under the arm rest. Perfect hand hold to lift and carry the door from.

Looks good! Always loved a set of half doors on a Jeep. The twill on the uppers is such a great fabric too. I when I take my doors off of my JLU, I put a piece of clear 3m film over the hole for the metal door strap, and then cut a hole for the bolt. Keeps the metal from scratching the door jam, and its cheap and easy to replace as needed.

Getting the Willys Sport + Dual Door Option is a neat loophole on how to get power doors/locks/mirrors in a Willys Sport with the added "free" bonus of extra half doors + uppers. Run the math, you will be pleasantly surprised at how the numbers fall. I didn't realize this until I read the tip in a forum

I ordered my 2010 JKU with factory half doors and still love them. I think it sucks you have to order both now but at least the fools still make them!

Before I watched your video I saw other wranglers with half doors and strong winds and strong rain soaked the guys jeep but after watching your video it looks pretty safe on a rainy day keeping the inside dry and by the way congratulations on your new Jeep I can’t wait to see what you do to it what a great video keep up the great work

We have aftermarket half doors on our JK and you'll get wet with them for sure. Our YJ has factory half doors and you still get wet with them. These are by far the nicest half doors I've seen and think they'll hold up well.

Awesome I've been contemplating ordering the dual door (half doors) option when i order my jl, but man it's crazy price. I'm one who prefers the half doors only and don't even want the full doors or hardtop. They should make them standard with upgrade to full doors as an option if you order a hardtop, like the good old days. My 89 YJ based model which i bought brand new for $8999+$250 rear bench+$800 dealer installed AC... And back then the half doors didn't even have door locks until following year in 1990. Now days they bundle tons of stuff i don't really want, which only raises the prices. Anyway, I'm happy to see this vid

The struggle is real my friend. Cindy and I went though the same frustration when ordering this Jeep but in the end, we decided that we really wanted half doors and when you roll it into the financing, it's negligible. I know, something a salesman would tell you but if it's what you want, it's what you gotta do. Glad you enjoyed the video.

As a YJ owner I can say that is quite the effort to remove the doors lol. It's no wonder I rarely see any JL's doorless. My half doors are missing the hinge nuts and check straps so all I do is open the door and pull up and they're off haha
