I’m CURIOUS! Do you prefer Gimbals or Steadicams? And which models??

I only use a small gimble with a small compact that films in 4K. I use a tripod with my Sony 7A 111. I recently bought the new zhiyun crane-m2 Gimble which is very light and better for moving around and not attracting too much attention.

I prefer gimbals because it can do much more than a glidecam, we can get more diffrent kinds of shots which will look proffessional. Its just now about stablizing

You touched on some great points David! Gimbals are definitely a go to for any shoots we do, and wouldn't trade it up for the world

What do you recommend a beginner such as myself do in regards to this? Should I get a better lens first or save up for a gimble? Once again Great content!

Thanks! Personally I’d say get a better lens first, you can do a lot with handheld and tripod shots, but you’ll be hating yourself if you’re editing footage and hating the image quality!

I'm still using a monopod and fluid head for subtle movement. I feel like I really should get a gimbal but I've worked alongside gimbal users over a few years now - they seem to film less clips than I do - I may be imagining this tho. I recently asked a fellow videographer how often he used his - he admitted less and less because he can work faster hand held. I'm conflicted on buying one as I recently bought a drone and only used it three times before selling it. Plus two experienced wedding videographers I follow admit to rarely using their gimbals now.

When shooting video, my main camera is usually always on a gimbal - but it comes down to shooting preference! Maybe rent one first?

Gimbals rock for a lot of situations as you say I love both of mins a use them a lot but I also use my Sliders and love them too I use to do a lot of product shooting and my camera was always on a tripod But for the last 2 years or so I have been shooting way more video Another imformitive and awesome video best regards, Rick

Totally agree with you. A gimbal is just another tool to be used when you need it. For example, I have hammers, screwdrivers and drills in my toolkit because any one of them will not do the job on it's own. Better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it.
@DavidZhou5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! There’s no reason to abstain from owning a tool if it’s within your means, especially one that can do so much in a single package!

@@DavidZhou If you go to my travel channel and look at my "Dedham video" it shows how a tripod could be very restricting. I had to walk 3 miles along the river filming, and a gimble was the only choice. Much of my video was filmed at 300mm range and while not perfect, it allowed me to get instant shots as they occurred with minimum camera shake. With a tripod I would have missed the spontaneous footage I was after of the people boating.

Should you use image stabilization with a gimbal? Or turn it off

Keep it on I think

I love my Osmo, but I like the newer phone gimbals. I'm not made of money, though.
