Thank you so much for this, what I learned from this video is definitely going to improve my sales pitch when selling them. I wish more of my customers were like you. Thumbs up.

Hi Jon! I’ve always liked your shipping container tractor shed and that the tractor just barely fits. It’s probably the best rodent proof tractor storage you can have and reasonably priced too. Thanks for sharing!

I have a 40' Hi-cube and a 20' std for car and parts storage. In my town you don't need a building permit and they aren't taxed as a building because they are considered portable. They aren't taxed at all, actually. Much cheaper in the long run and you don't have to worry about rodents as you would with any other type of building! I used range vents in the corners of mine for ventilation. The prices have definitely sky rocketed over the last two years due to low supply so I'm glad I bought mine about eight years ago!

Just bought a sea container ready to move out of town with my stuff. Added couple vents on it, one lower back corner and opposite front on top. Going to add a whirly bird on on ceiling / top. With proper attachment for the canister. Cheers.

I would avoid putting a hole through the roof. The sidewall vents offer enough ventilation. The containers hold a lot of stuff, you’ll find it very useful. Keep on tractoring!

Also venting at the top and LOWER at the bottom is important if you store any gasoline or propane in the container. That would include anything in fuel tanks of equipment. Propane fumes will vent out the bottom holes and gasoline fumes will vent out the top holes. You don't want to blow your self and your your things up.

I looked into containers last fall (2021). Sadly I chose not to because of prices and I tarped my tractor in between snowstorms. I’ll have to look into it again. SE Minnesota here. Love your videos.

I'd be worried I'd nick the side - my bucket is too wide anyways but the amount of times I've touched things with my bucket.... I think you'd be through the side of that container before you realized you touched it. I can't believe you stuffed that thing in there lol. Bravo.

I have a 20’ tan 1 trip shipping container I keep my L2850 in and it only has the 4 factory vents. Put it in end of last summer then had a knee injury/surgery so it sat at least 6 months not opened. Got in it last week and seen no sign of water or moisture whatsoever so I think I’m good. Haven’t experienced the hot summer with it yet so think g about adding 8 more small vents and possibly a solar fan that pulls air in from the floor in the corner. Mine sits up off the ground about a foot and I keep the grass killed around and of coarse underneath the container. So a small fan pulling cooler air from the lowest point should help keep it moisture free.

Billstmax has 2 containers one for his slingshot and one for tractors. He has the ceilings spray foamed, a little costly to do. I use to upload them at work, some had the canvas tops to load with overhead cranes. Once driving a forklift i stuck the fork into the side and it put a nice hole in it. My bad!

I’m considering two 40 foot high cube containers with a roof section in between them to store trailers. The negative- there expensive like everything else.

I’m not seeing a huge price jump in our area. The 20 footers can still be found for around 3000 a 3500. Where are you located? Keep on tractoring!

I recently bought a 20’ - they delivered it, not perfect, floor patches, a wall patch, it cost delivered to PA, $2277. On a Credit Card. Door closes, with pushing & 2 people is easier to close. On a scale of 1-10, I rate about 3.5 to 4! It was the cheapest solution for me.

Hey Jon, glad to see you farther north. I'd looked at the containers for the cay but the shipping was just as much as the seacan itself. Joys of being too rural I guess. Take care! 👍🚜🏝🌴🍁

Heyhey Jon I just bpought the last one available in Fairbanks. When I called them they had 2 an hour later when I got there they had 1 and I bought it. But unfortunately it was $5200 and not $3000. You guys will see it soon I haven't even got it delivered yet. Take care my friend

Another good idea is to have two but space them about ten feet apart. Now you can put trusses over them and have a garage in the middle. Sadly the by-laws here will not allow them on private property in town.

Great idea for off site storage or just storage at home. One could even paint it to match their decor at the house. How wide is the inside? just wondering if my 16 foot trailer would fit in one. Thanks for the video Jon. Take care buddy 👋

The inside width is exactly 8 foot. Guessing that would fit your trailer. I think getting a bunch of those harbor freight scaffolding sets and using it for implement and attachment storage would be great. Keep on tractoring!

If you buy one beware of an out fit called Container One. They sold me a 20 ft that was heavy damaged side walls puffed out 6 in. Hinge frames all bent. They said this was just cosmetic .

Hey, Jon - appreciate your sharing an economical solution for storage. I'm thinking of getting a bass boat and it occurred to me this might be an affordable solution, without buying or building a small garage. And I've got plenty of land to place a container on. My only concern is the adequate ventilation of gas fumes. I live in the Southeast, and the summer heat can get pretty intense. So, I want to be cautious about sealing up gas fumes in one of these. But it sounds as if your ventilation holes would make it safe. The other thing I like is that the container is rodent-proof. As mice will get into a garage, and then the boat - and can decimate wiring, upholstery, etc. Thoughts? Thanks!
@ritterjon
@ritterjon Жыл бұрын
I think a container would be perfect for your boat. Yes the added ventilation I’ve added takes care of any fumes that would accumulate. Being rodent proof is extremely important as well. Go buy one! Keep on tractoring!

LEARN CONTAINER GRADES before buying lest ye waste serious money. For my machine shop space I made the mistake of buying two WWT (Wind and Water Tight) grade which REALLY means "removed from sea freight use" due to damage and almost always trashed end door gaskets. I recoated the roofs after welding them together (FCAW in a suticase feeder) but my next containers were "one trip" grade 40' High Cubes with doors on both ends. Those seal properly and are a fine home for my classic motorcycle collection. Don't omit leaving at least a foot between container and earth to vent humidity or your box may get moldy.

If they are vented properly, there will be no condensation inside due to the air circulating through from the outside.
