Jared, totally on point as usual. I'm to old to start filming now. I'm having enough trouble just getting out there and making memories. I will say i have had some great memories over the years. Not always successful ones either. But, my stories would be much more convincing with footage! Seems like I'm always the guy in camp that has the run ins with the Big Boys!😢😂 Luv your Channel bro!

Jared, I recently picked up an FX3 for self filming. I have a Sony 24-105 F4 for it currently. I bow hunt 99% of the time, and I was trying to get your opinion if I should get something like a 70-300, or if I would be good with the 24-105.
@jaredmills
@jaredmills Жыл бұрын
Hey Dan. I have both, and for most of the hunting situations I prefer the reach of the 70-300. You can get by with a 24-105 but you're really going to need deer to be in bow range and even then it's also a good idea to film in 4K so you have the scaling ability. But if you have the ability, I'd look into the 70-300.
@dansiemen

@@jaredmills Thank you for the advice! I’ll start looking for a 70-300.

I’ve always loved watching your videos and hunts. Seem to be a very down to earth guy and always sharing information. I’ve been filming my hunts for 4-5 years and it’s hard to do it all(carry the extra weight, time setting up, editing, etc) I had almost gave it up but watching this reminded me exactly why I got into filming. To remember those small details and share my experiences. Thanks Jared!!

I appreciate everything your doing, you bring a calmness a respect to the wildlife and even more so a respect and appreciation to the process. The stand moving the scouting, camera set ups. When we watch you we get a start to finish. Not some ( trophy hunter ) pulls into a 3500 acrea farm hops up in a stand some ranch hand scouted and hung and shoots a 165 on a piece of ground he may never have step foot on or will again. Is it hunting yes but to me the respect for the animal the planning the hours of scouting to harvest a buck you’ve targeted multiple years is 100 times more meaningful and rewarding. It’s not just a big rack on the wall it’s so much more. You get that and you allow us to fallow your steps and the journey. I’m a huge fan and can’t wait to see what’s in the future. Thanks again for what your doing and how you represent not only yourself as a hunter and land steward but as a figure for our youth to watch fallow and look up to. Good luck in 2023.

Jared You are so right about everything you stated! The best is the memories on film! I have been filming for close to 30 yrs starting as a videographer for Summit treestands high places. To our own TV show, and now the social media, and podcasting stuff. Looking back it has opened my eyes to many different views of what happens in the woods when we are there. Thanks for what you do , and keep up the great work.

Awesome stuff Jared. I just started filming my hunts a few years back. I’m currently working lots of overtime this summer to purchase a fairly good camera and drone that I can use to film hunts and fishing trips. I also have my sUAS pilot license to capture arial footage. Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks for making these types of videos. They are very encouraging.

This is definitely something I want to get into when the budget allows. Looking forward to the follow up video to see what is available in my price range. The clips you showed of your past hunts in this video are insane. You have had some great encounters over the years with some GIANT deer. That footage alone should convince people to film!

Good stuff as always Jared! You hit some excellent points. I’d stay in a tree if I realized I forgot my grunt call or antlers, but without a camera or the wrong tree mount, I’ll head back to the truck. It’s a challenge that cannot be described, but all of the points you listed are exactly why it’s so special. Thanks for putting this together. Great job!

I’ve filmed a few of my hunts and had fair success with it, but made the decision that I’m never going to pass up the best shot opportunities just because I couldn’t get it on camera, so I lost interest in it…..I love what you are doing, keep up the great work and good luck in 2023!

Hey Big Ern, I hear you. It's not for everyone, for sure, but one thing I should've said is that not everyone has to film at a level where getting the shot perfectly on camera is a priority. Keep it wide or don't worry about capturing the shot at all, just having the camera in the woods with you is enough to capture some pretty cool stuff. Thanks for watching and following!

Last yr my son filmed my veterans hunt an that was so cool spotted the buck coming in at two hundred yards and he filmed him all the way to the box blind he drop the camera when I shot the buck an picked it back up only to see him dead at twenty yards in front of the blind .he said it scared him when I shot

Awesome video and so spot on! It’s about the experience, memories, reliving the hunts, and reminiscing on hunts past! I can tell you have a heart and passion for this for the reasons you stated that I feel a lot of people have lost or forgotten somewhere along the way! Sometimes it’s the intangibles! Sometimes it’s hard to explain and put into words that heart behind it, but you did a great job explaining that. Sometimes I get emotional just reliving my hunts and just being grateful for all the memories and experiences.
