I still believe that retinoids are the golden standard for wrinkles, they have the most studies and proofs of efficacy. I use tretinoin since many years, started with 0.01% and now using 0.05%. Just go low, go slow.

Ive been using the Cerave retinol, which I heard was supposed to be one of the most gentle formulations of retinols out there. I itch so bad and look like I have an allergic reaction every time I put it on. This is my sign to put the Cerave down and sub it for one of these products. Thank you! ♥️

Neutrogena has a retinol serum with 0,05% retinol, it really helped with my black heads and gave me an even skintone. I used it every single day for almost a year and it never gave me any irritation. But it has fragrance though, so be careful if you're sensitive to that

A doctor gave me tretinoin for my acne, and it was the lowest concentration available. I used it based on the instructions and my skin peeled the first few days, as expected. And even though it stopped after a few days but I honestly felt like it didn't help my acne at all. It made the acne disappear faster. The scars disappeared faster. But my skin kept coming out with new acne and so many of them. I know what retinoids do and why this was happening. But i just couldn't stand the fact that it wasn't helping my skin to not produce more acne over time. In fact, after 5 months, my skin was just so irritated. Maybe i wasn't using it correctly but I really tried to follow the directions properly and I feel like I wasn't doing anything wrong... anyway, when I stopped it completely and used moisturiser only (no serums), my acne actually went away ._. So idk what happened there... i still get acne these days but a few here and there and it's so much more manageable. But yeah, not using any retinol or tretinoin at the moment. I am using a bakuchiol serum, though, and i feel like it helps fade scars and brighten my skin overall.

Carrot seed oil was recommended by my esthetician and it broke me out so bad 🥴 I put one drop in my tried & true moisturizer and the next day I experienced an allergy breakout that was deeply painful so never again. Inkey list acne moisturizer burns slightly but I like it! However, I only use it as a spot treatment because of the burning. Not applying that all over my face

I used Tretinoin for like 6 months and I just couldn’t deal. I used an encapsulated retinol for about 2 years prior and even on the smallest dose of Tretinoin the irritation, dryness, and reactivity never got better. I tried low and slow and I was just a flakey mess all of the time. It didn’t feel worth it to have my skin barrier constantly destroyed. So I went back to my favorite encapsulated retinol and my skin barrier is so much happier. I use it for prevention and anti aging. Tretinoin just made me look so dry that it actually make me look older and the wrinkles around my eyes just looked so bad lol so I had to stop. I really tried.

Can’t use any kind of tretinoin nor its derivatives. No matter what tricks I tried, it dried my eyes out waaaay to much, and in such a short time! Doctor told me to stop. Love Bakuchiol. Even if it doesn’t help with fine lines, I’m still using it. It’s helped decrease my redness, brighten my skin, and helps get rid of hyperpigmentation (and acne) faster. I’m hooked.

I have 3 questions… 1. Do these 3 products cause a ‘purge’ ? 2. Can you use all of them in one routine? 3. Are they all pregnancy safe? I only ask these questions as I used to have acne and adapalene cleared it. 3 years later my skin still remained clear as I continued using it, then i wanted to start trying to conceive so I stopped it, got pregnant & got the worst acne I’ve ever had, I then lost the baby 2 months later but I want to carry on using pregnancy safe ingredients, preferably vitamin A alternatives as this works the best for my skin.

@Cassandra Bankson Should you avoid products with Beta Keratin in them if you are using tretinoin? Like would it be too much & cause irritation or would it not make a difference? I just want to make sure I don't end up wasting money if I buy products with it in it bc I had no idea that Beta Keratin had anything to do with retinols

I like retinol (and retinoids) because it helps my acne and I can deal with its potential side effects. While these sound great, I am fine with retinol and niacinamide. I actually really like niacinamide in higher concentration because it just prevents excess sebum production (yes I do like the ordinary niacinamide serum, pc pore reducing toner is great too just not for my wallet).

@@elyssa.cranford go low and slow. Find a retinol product that you can tolerate and use it every other day or every third day. Once the irritation subsides from that, increase the frequency. Then when you’re fully acclimated to retinol, get with your dermatologist or a prescription skincare company like Agency or Dermatica and they’ll start you on the lowest dose of Tretinoin then slowly work you up to higher doses. Don’t forget your sunscreen and moisturize like crazy! Also make sure no other products in your routine are contributing to the irritation. Super gentle/moisturizing cleansers and a good moisturizer are key for me.
