I’m pretty certain that “First Winter” actually used to be titled “Pacific,” which at first was a demo game that was made in under 42 hours. My guess is that the developer(s) decided to go back and expand on this game, and then re-released it as “First Winter.”

For anyone who is interested (including possibly Mark himself, if he is so inclined), a bit of research has led me to the discovery that The First Winter in its demo format was originally called "Pacific" and was made in 29 hours for a game jam, and Mark did indeed play it in 2017. First Winter definitely has some PTSD aspect to it, hinting to the submarine and "explody vision" as Mark calls it, and so the "explody vision" simulates either gunshot flashes, or explosion from the missile.

Or (I'm having other ideas) it could be that the person where Mark is playing as first pov, it could mean that the person was a soldier and and had been affected by the explosions and all. It could be that.

The first game looks like its based around the B-59 soviet sub incident during the cold war? If you're not familiar with it, the sub had lost communication for multiple days, and being deep under water, had no idea if war had broken out. 2 of 3 commanding officers voted to launch the nuclear missiles, but in the end, the opposing commander convinced the others not to launch.

I'm pretty sure it's referencing how close the US and USSR got to nuclear war because of simple mistakes, there's at least one case where a Soviet submarine nearly launched nuclear bombs because they lost connection with the Soviet Navy and strayed into US defended waters (literally came down to one guy with veto power vetoing the action after the command structure on the submarine all agreed to launch) Very bone chilling if you think about it

A game that you may enjoy is called “Withered”, its a horror visual novel type game with dark themes, but that’s all one can really say without spoiling it. All it’s described as is, “You wake up and find an eye.” It’s a phenomenal game, and I think you’d enjoy it. Hey, I have a game suggestion that doesn't involve a new game that everyone's going to be bored with in two months, deserves much more attention than it ever got, PLUS it has an amazing soundtrack, an odd and unique art style, interesting characters, a satisfying, entertaining combat system, creepy monsters, and a storyline dark and weird enough to hold Mark's attention and count as a scary game -- Alice: Madness Returns. The first game, American McGee's Alice, is definitely worth a play too, but I have the feeling Mark would LOVE Madness Returns. Plus, it has puzzles and secrets that he would enjoy hunting up and, let me say again, an AMAZING soundtrack. Please, PLEASE Mark, for yourself as much as me.
