oh.. now I get it why my therapist says that my body language is very interesting... At the session I show signs of being nervous / defensive, calm, confident, worried, and then the lies.. :D sometimes I try to control myself and sit still but that's too hard to keep and eye on yourself while having a conversation. And then I use some lies to skip issues that may be to hard for me to speak about. Liked the video! :)

I noticed that these tips require some time invested on the observation of a particular individual, which is great if you actually interact with that person on a regular basis. However, if I may make a suggestion, I'd like to mention 3 cues that I've learned with trying to spot deception: 1) Fidgety body; because of the adrenaline of doing something you perceive as bad. 2) Disparities between body language and speech; like you said at one point, your mouth says one thing but your face another. 3) Evasion, like before, since the person might feel like they're doing something bad, their body posture might lean away from you, they won't keep eye contact, etc. These are like a lighter, faster way of detecting deceptions with strangers or people you don't know very well but, if you'd like to be more certain, an in depth analysis like the one talked about in this video is essential. I really liked this topic. Thanks!

As somebody who gets nervous and self conscious very quickly, I'm not a big fan of these body language tips. Sometimes I'm just not comfortable when put on the spot even if I'm telling the truth. In my opinion it's a very slippery slope to assume you are being lied to up to 200 times a day (which I think is an awfully inflated number made up by pseudo-scientists, but that's another story). My point is: you can never know what's going on inside peoples' heads. They might just be caught up in their own world.

Antonio, How to tell if someone is lying or being honest using NLP Eye Accessing Cue. The first book I read was "Frogs Into Princes" and then I read many of the Bandler & Grinder books. Most people have repetitive patterns and once understood be aware of any changes. There are a number of ways to seek the patterns. One is simply asking questions you already know a person has the answers to; and then questions you know they do not know. Also have them to imagine in their minds eye what it would be; or to explain what it would Look Like, Sound Like and or Feel like. They will reveal their patterns by bring forth a Remembrance or by creating a Construct. Back in the 1980's immediately after taking NLP courses I asked my young daughter questions likened to this process and her eyes movement, voice tone, hands & change of body, breathing changes, speaking cadence, color in face changes were very much a tell. NLP is excellent for communication and sales. Lawyers choosing jury members are known to be expert in NLP. The very best sales people learn how to best present their product/service. Professional Card players have very proven NLP ways to find the tells of each competitor at the table. This knowledge and ability can be used both to help or manipulate others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJmpZomeaMypprc It also helps to know each person's preferred sense he/she processes intel and decision making. Helpful to better know how to communicate with others. Each person uses a primary means to process intel: pictures, sounds or feeling. One of the above ways is to attend to a person's manner of speech and note the words which might be: See, Hear or Feel. 1). I see what I mean? Visual. Pictures. Charts 2). I hear what you are saying? Auditory. Music. 3). I know how you feel? Kinesthetic. Look Down, Speak deep and breath deep slow. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYTPY4eGaa17htE NLP and understanding the D.I.S.C of prersonality profiles will provide a great way to increase communication skills: discpersonalitytesting.com/free-disc-test/

Many people are so professional and acts like an actor that you can understand whether they are lying or not
@DonQuixotec9 жыл бұрын
Best way of figuring out if someone speaks the truth, is to have them tell the story, then ask some control questions. Then a day or two after, ask them to tell the story again, and ask some control questions about that. If there are major inconsistencies, then they may be lying. There's no foolproof 100% way of telling if someone is lying, though. Some body languages can be useful in addition too, especially signs that they are nervous or suddenly uncomfortable. When people are nervous or uncomfortable, they often do something to feel they have control over something, like rubbing your arm, tapping fingers/hands/feet, moving the legs a lot etc. Good liars tell a story in a simple, short, easy to remember way, and force themselves to sit/stand in a relaxed manner, without moving a lot, and looking you straight in the eyes.

Hi reading the comments I wanted to clarify some points. Yes this is a skill that can be taught and takes time and practice to learn if you want to get better. I compare it to learning to drive or learning a musical instrument. In the beginning there is so much to think about and do, but after a while you are driving miles from your house and didn't even think about all the steps you made to get there or all the things you observed and decisions you made. It just becomes an internal second nature kind of thing. Next point about the up to to 90% accuracy. Yes that takes a lot of time and training. Only the best lie detectors achieve that kind of accuracy, but getting into the 70+ percentile is not that difficult and certainly better than being at 50%. Last point I wanted to make was that lie detection can be a very complicated subject and Antonio did an excellent job simplifying and making it understandable. I for sure won't be playing poker with him at Stylecon this year. :-)

hi to Realmenrealstyle.com , ok i agree with you on most points, but what if a person, is a nerves person like myself and after a few meeting with a person/client i feel relaxed ,to be able to talk.But in the first meeting i may be sweating a lot , i can't lie for a reason (if i lie i have seizes, so lieing is out of the question) so after a few moments i calm down and my metabolism get back to normal, and if i take a few moments to calm down before an interview, per say i can talk and its better(so i do take a moment or two) "so lieing isn't one of my strongest points , so i'm quite honest and this really upsets people , so sometimes i just sit and listen and , only say anything when i'm asked a direct question . This really works well with me . In a briefer note ,"i was a watchmaker for 30 years and lieing only harms one's business,so i haven't done it since i was a twenty something adult" . And yes i watch body langue all the time and my BS detector goes off often ,but i just learned to ignore it,or i just stop talking to these people , that's me . Mr A. Millar

I'm only a few seconds into the video and I really like your content but an accuracy of 90% lie detection is better than most professionals. I've been reading books and done research on body language and lie detection for the past year and from what I know this number is way too high - I could be wrong but I don't think so. This is good advice but authors such as Paul Ekman, Joe Navarro, etc. warn that these kinds of systems do not solely indicate deception as there's no particular physicality that indicate such (there aren't even brains scans that do so), but as you pointed out you have to dig deeper and find out the reason for the inconsistencies. They could be for relatively benign reasons. All that being said, it's a good skill to develop.
@kylemcnatt85899 жыл бұрын
+LateToTheParty7 +Real Men Real Style Hi, actually a lot of this system is based on the work of Ekman and Navarro, but I agree completely that no system is 100% accurate and Antonio mentions that too. Heck it is great getting to 80%. This is really more about getting as good as you can at finding differences and then knowing how to discover what those differences mean. You are correct they may be benign. I always hope they are.

@RealMenRealStyle9 жыл бұрын
+Bbzije1 It depends - you have to establish the baseline before you dig deeper. I go into more detail here - www.realmenrealstyle.com/lie-detection/
@Bbzije19 жыл бұрын
+Real Men Real Style I understand the baseline. Still, if there's a misunderstanding of the characteristics (which youve touched on in the vid) the baseline will be flawed and confusing yet some would roll with it as still a means to detect falsehood. Or what's worse, if the one being investigated knows the "plan" or methods to detect lies in his demeanor he might act out the tells as he or she knows they are falsely representing them. Its a matter of having enough time to get to know the person being investigated.

Easy way to tell if someone is lying to you (or in this case, trying to scam you into buying something). You state false "facts" like there's 50/50 chance his method will work. 2ndly you try to look professional by wearing a suit with a tie that's a calming colour like green, not to mention the blue pocket square (which doesn't even match the rest of the outfit. 3rd, they post links to where you can get more info......which will turn into asking for money.

Actually you will find it in the New Testament also where the Scriptures state liars will not inherit the Kingdom of God."But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexual immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars- their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."(Revelation 21:8) People don't take lying seriously. We even use the phrase "little white lie." God takes it seriously because He never lies. He is always faithful. He takes this sin seriously enough that those who practice lying without repentance will spend eternity in Hell.

I honestly don't lie very often. However, I do tell a lot of half-truths, so I'm still not "technically" lying often...

there's no way I am lied to 200 times, I doubt that I have even 50 conversations. that seems huge even for a more extroverted person

I'm brutally honest... Even when my adhd kicks in. Lets not forget that some ppl are just not right in the head, but could be honest this first step he mentions don't skip it, because there are people who are honest, but over there like oh look a squirrel!!! And run to the window instead of answering right away lol

the question is not how many times are you being lied to, but if these actions correspond to a psychopath, who lives to lie, and is not bothered by it. otherwise, unless you have scientific proof, stop this. the subject and tester has to be tested for psychopathy with a PET brain scan. I think everyone should be tested

JoAnne Denison EVERYONE lies everyday, and almost everyone doesn't even know it. Psychopaths had been glorified by the film industry and it doesn't correspond to reality at all. If you really think that miniscule lying makes you a psychopath, then that would mean nearly every person on this whole fucking planet is out of their god damn minds.
