The Scots have the best marching band spectacle on the planet......maybe the Royal Marines can match them....but for sheer spectacle they are unmatched. They put fire into the blood of even this Englishman. They also have the best sense of humour in the UK...a truly great nation, Scots make up a good percentage of SF in the UK...that has to tell you something. What an amazing country...I hope you guys don't leave the UK....we love you as a part of Britain...

I've seen it. 120-odd pipes and drums of the Scots College in Sydney marching out of the morning fog playing Scotland the Brave - Australian Army barracks, Singleton, Australia, December 1973. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing to attention. It was absolutely awesome.

My late Grandfather was with our much vaunted 42nd Highlanders in World War 1. His last combat orders were issued evening 10 th of November 1918 to clear the Town of Mons for the arrival on the morning of the 11th of Sir Arthur Currie, Commanding the Canadian Expeditionary Force along with Generl Haig, Supreme Allied Comand. The job fell to 1 Platoon, A Company of the 42nd led by Grandad. They did not fail! He was one of 100 Canadians to be awarded the Mons Medal.
