How to differentiate additional testicle from epidydimis? The echogenicity seems similar and the rest of the epi (body, tail) may be difficult to visualize.

In this case, the word “chaperone” is the equivalent of “prison guard.” Chaperones need to be SPECIALLY TRAINED to serve in that capacity. You can’t just go and grab a co-worker to “chaperone” the exam. That’s just TOTALLY OFFENSIVE and violates the concept of CONSENT. If the patient is making the tech feel uncomfortable, then maybe a woman should never have been doing a scrotal exam in the first place. Male patients usually show up with a condition they did NOTHING to cause. Now a FEMALE enters the picture and all of a sudden the person with the testicles is the ‘bad guy.’

Because at the 10:00 minute timestamp you say, _“And the last thing to do is to clean the probe really, really well.”_ Seems like if there’s a risk of contamination between on patient and the next patient and the next patient over the course of just one single day, patient’s should be required to wash with that disinfectant they make patients use before surgeries. I’m sure there are some pretty grody individuals out there and we don’t want to come in and contract a nosocomial infection. Patients should also be encouraged to watch videos like these before coming in so they know how to make things less awkward for the tech. The awkwardness the patient feels is often due to the patient having to expose his genitalia to a female he’s never met before. It goes against all our conditioning from the time we started going through puberty. That’s where a lot of the shame and embarrassment come in. And after that, if patients wear a face mask, then the tech would never recognize them in the real world. And if the tech wears a face mask, then they wouldn’t be recognized either.

Its a technique where patients try to forcibly exhale while actually holding their breath. It causes an increase in blood flow or pooling.

You should request a male technician and if one facility does not have a male there, then call around. Female techs should not be doing this test or the penile Doppler either. In a few of these videos, a female tech acknowledges that it’s embarrassing for the man, but that doesn’t stop them from expecting him to get on the table and expose his testicles as easy as opening your mouth for the dentist. Saying they do this exam all the time provides no comfort whatsoever. How would they like a male to do a trans-vaginal ultrasound or their mammogram? Same thing. They can do this exam while keeping you covered, and they know it.

@@JamesWhite-yg7ehAlso, in this day and age, why is there not a special garment a man can wear something like a G-string that has a flap on it that only exposes the testicles? This garment would conceal both the anus and the penis. As far as a person being male or female working on the opposite sex, I have mixed feelings about this. People in the medical profession are SUPPOSED to be completely indifferent to a person’s genitalia. For example, all during the 1900’s, most babies in western countries had only MALE doctors for expectant mothers and even delivering the newborn. Now women have graduated as doctors in higher numbers than men. So should all the MALE OB/GYN’s give up their practice and practice only on MEN? Not even children? I don’t really know the answer to that question. Like I say, I’ve got mixed feelings about the answers to these questions.

I agree with James White about this. If you’re uncomfortable having a tech who’s not the same gender as you, then call ahead first. Another thing you can try is a few sessions of hypnotherapy ahead of time to help ease your anxiety. Another alternative is to take a benzo like lorazepam. What you’re trying to avoid is suffering emotional trauma, and all of these things can help.

You need to hire a lot more male sonographers to do these tests, although I'm sure you can find more ways to embarrass and humiliate your male patients.
