1. This is not the end of my story. 2. Define my own story. 3. Be the hero of my own story.

#2 is very powerful because I think we have all been guilty of allowing someone else to define our experiences even when we know it isn't true! Once I moved past this, I was truly set free. In so many ways. Wonderful talk!

This was such a powering speech! I will now be applying these three steps of self-empowerment in my daily life. Additionally, thank you so much for telling your story, it was very courageous of you to do so.

Wow, This is totally awesome and filled with valuable wisdom. I love how you addressed the act of becoming fully aware and taking 100% accountability for a better future, radically or by any means, but for a much better future. In some ways, it was a trigger to start changing things. I think a lot of people are in this stage now, especially with the pandemic and such. Thank you for sharing!

Powerful! Valuable lessons in this TedTalk. Sheena, I have a similar story (abusive relationship, single-parent--and very loving household). I left my abusive relationship in 1996 and have created my own 'radical future,' as you termed it. I have recognized all three truths you shared about self-empowerment along my path. Armed with these, life can't help but work out as you design it to. I love what you said about 'define your own story.' Define it. Then take action to have it! Congratulations on recognizing and sharing as your journey will no doubt help so many.

Well done! I will use this as a tool for myself and, as a therapist running an intensive outpatient program where I meet folks at a critical moment of choice, the choice point that comes in that time of the dark night of the soul, to shine a light that comes from having met my own and a willingness to continue to meet each choice point that comes 60 or 70 times in any given day with a first hand knowledge of these truths and a commitment to cultivating my own empowerment. Thank you. Charles May...Philly born and raised!

I've come through a multitude of abusive situations but I've regained my power and have become my own hero. Now, my passion is mentoring trauma survivors to own their power, grow past fight or flight survival mode and go from stagnant to unstoppable to create their dream through Self-Empowerment. I've come full circle.
