I’ve had mine for 4 years now. I’m right at 1000 rounds through it. It has its moments but only when I short stroke it. The only big issue I had with is was just goofing around with some cheap aluminum rounds and one got stuck in the chamber. I had to pop it out with a cleaning rod.

Good stuff. That double barrel is a good lookin gun and the Ithaca clone is pretty interesting. Wouldn't mind grabbing one if I saw it on sale somewhere. Me personally, If i had to recommend a shotgun to someone, needing or wanting one, id still tellem to get a mossberg 500. Probably the most solid shotgun for the money still to this day. Ive had several 500s and 590s over the years, probably around 10 to 12, the oldest is probably over 30 years old. Not a single one of them has ever let me down or had a hiccup, over the course of 10s of thousands of rounds, and decades of the elements while hunting and traveling.

Winchester actually commissioned a Turkish firearms company to produce a modern rendition of their famous ww1 shotgun. It's called the SXP trench, and it only costs between $409 and $429. Some sellers have it at $278

The Ithaca 37 has always been a very cool shotgun, smooth action, great feel - but the bottom eject is also a weakness. The side eject allows an easy load of a single shot, when the shotgun is empty, without having to load any shells into the magazines. The Ithaca 37 style action won’t allow that. When empty, a person has to load a shell into the magazine and then pump the action to load up a shell.

The Rock Island was a little funny story. When it first debuted on social media it's name was branded and implied to be a clone of Winchester 1897 Trench Gun (TP-97 I believe was the original name) and Rock Island just got roasted online because it was clearly not a clone of the Winchester 1897 but the Ithaca so yeah they had to go back and reset the name.

The Turkish O/U reviewed, has it been shot for trap? Because 500 rds in trap can be done in a weekend. I'm interested to know if heat from continuous firing makes the hinges swell up making the gun difficult if not impossible to open during the middle of a round of trap. I had a Stoeger Condor about 15 years ago that after 10-15 shells in trap, specifically, would seize up on the line, in the middle of a round. Why trapshooting specifically? Because in trap, you're shooting in more rapid succession between turns than in sporting clays or skeet. You're standing on a station , and with five shooters, the tempo is much, much quicker than the other clays games that require one shooter on station at a time, firing 2, 4 or 6 rounds, stepping off station and not shooting again for another 10-15 minutes, allowing the gun to cool. In trap, you blow through a round of 25 in less than ten minutes, even with five shooters on post. Then, when you walk to your next round or field, it's generally less than five minutes before you're on station again, for another 25.

I foolishly bought a 12 ga. CZ O/U for shooting sporting clays. What a mistake! In a round of sporting clays, you fire 50 rounds, but after firing 20 to 25 rounds, the barrels at the action end would heat up and expand to the point you couldn’t open or close the action. The metal obviously wanted heat treated properly and I would have to finish the round using a borrowed gun from the Club. Sold the CZ and bought a Beretta.
