I've been watching most of your videos, you're doing a good job! Anyway, i'm also a guitarist and besides this 3 techniques, there's another 1 to make your guitar sounds more lively. It's simply picking another notes together with the basic melody note of the song. It goes like, instead of just picking do-re-fa-sol-si-do for the melody picking, you can play it do-re-(do+fa)-(do+sol)-si-do. Its hard to explain, but it is quite simple, and the idea is to put a harmonic to your melody. I called it group picking, cause i don't know the proper way to say it, but every guitarist we've known uses this technique too. Put it together with the sliding, off-beat, or other techniques, and the guitar will sounds cooler.

I think the technique you described is called "double-stops" :-)
@ariuswu
@ariuswu 7 жыл бұрын
Roland Zúber Ah! yes the double stops :D It's really useful, and quite simple. But it can be tricky for a beginner, cause if we pick the wrong extra note that doesn't match the chord, it will out of tune and everyone could here it.
@IAmStealthBertrand
@IAmStealthBertrand 7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes offbeat and out of tune works...take in traditional jazz music for example. That's the beauty of music and other art forms; there is room for exploration and expression.
@ariuswu
@ariuswu 7 жыл бұрын
SuperBryant1 yep, it could be works! but for a beginner to finally reach those stage, it's still a long way. Me myself could still make a mistake, especially when it comes to Jazz. But yes, an advance, or pro player could do a lot of things to cover it. Because they know not just techniques, but also scales, and how it works together :D

Can you plz answer this question. As a very good player about how long does it take you to say, see a fingerstyle song you like on KZbin and then learn it to where it sounds good. Mabey tales me say a month of heavy practice to get it down is it faster for a great player and by how much would you say. Or will it always take about the same time

A classical guitarist spends years of his/her life trying to avoid sliding! Singers too! My first teacher told me the most important thing to playing an instrument is the timing. Leo Kottke is a master of silence with his picking technique. My friend who is a sax player says music should tell a story...so be it!

nope...this is very, very basic stuff: more advanced than learning your open chords and how to strum but you basically just have to practice these simple techniques regularly a bit...you'll be able to do all of this stuff correctly way, way, way, before you are even close to being able to play like a pro...
