Add rotation to one side for backward movement of a car and wide bumpers and you get simple turtle, that would avoid obstacles

Even though the car is a useless machine, I think it is a bit cool. Also, if this car could be built in real life, as soon as it would dash a wall it would be able to save the driver by stopping / turning off the engine automatically! Edit: I really like your videos!

For an improvement, you could put #1’s motor onto a slower ratio to make it take more time to turn the switch back.

Yep, but it shouldn't be too slow because at some point the rotor stays where it switched the battery off, blocking it so that you can't even use the switch anymore
