Hey Faith, real talk? As someone who hates everything they make, THANK YOU for showing us the sketchbook with drawings you don't like. Even though I thought they were all great, it felt comforting to know that feeling is universal when it comes to practice sketches.

Thank you for being vulnerable and showing off your rough sketchbook. It was super ripe with some really creative ideas! Personally, I have about 4: a practice one, a tiny travel one, a watercolor practice one, and a try-your-best-and-make-it-look-amazing book.

I have multiple sketchbooks going at a time but I am no where near this organised and intentional about how I use them. Fascinating watch!

I still don't get used to the travel sketchbook but I always have three in use (one cheap and small for doodles thoughts, a big one for visually pleasing sketch and the third is mix media) without counting the sketchbooks intended for a whole month (challenges of 31 or 52 drawings)

You should totally start streaming. Vtuber or actual, does not matter. I like your art, your vibe, and just the joy and passion you radiate when you talk about your art and your workflow

Drawing instead of (or as well as) taking photos is something I wish I'd started doing earlier - makes you pay more attention to stuff. Started at this lake near a castle in Colorado

I use one sketchbook for everything lol. Ideas, sketches, studies, drawings, etc. However, if I want to create larger drawings or use specific mediums, I have seperate papers for that like bristol or toned paper.

I love her personality the most. 😆 Also, her first sketchbook reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano's style. 😄

I occasionally dedicate sketchbooks to a project or a class, but I have to ensure I have a plan to use up what remains of the sketchbook because there are few feelings more rotten than seeing a pile of half-finished sketchbooks too far back to justify continuing them like "2018 and also late 2024".
@jamiececilielange52497 күн бұрын
I've actually done that. Written a new date and continued. I mostly use the rest for studies and quick sketches.
@threnoidia7 күн бұрын
@jamiececilielange5249 I did this too. I pressed a sketchbook so the paper that wasn't for watercolour could flatten... it was indeed flat when I came back 6 years later 😅. I just had to sort out and label the years of the first half and draw a thick line (since I came back mid-page) to separate the new stuff to make sure I explained to myself why the first half was totally different in quality.
@AlexMint7 күн бұрын
@jamiececilielange5249 oh there's nothing technically stopping it, I just try to keep my sketchbooks to a logical date range of progression.

OMG that's brilliant about drawing at the muscle girl bar! I currently live in Japan and I've had a few friends invite me to that bar but I've been worried it'd be awkward. Next time I'm definitely going now that you've given me this idea of asking them to pose so I can draw them
@jamiececilielange52497 күн бұрын
I have multiple sketchbooks, but they're divided by mediums mostly. One for pens and markers. One for colour pencils (which was meant to be for watercolor). Loose sheets for watercolor, and then scrap paper for random stuff. The rules aren't strict, I switch it up a bit.
@ProkoTV7 күн бұрын
That's a fun way to divide it up. Definitely good to give yourself the space to mix it up sometimes like you do, though.

I love sketchbook tours, which is a bit sad since I don't actually use a sketchbook myself I mostly work digitally. I really should try and work in a sketchbook, the closest I would count to that right now is I have a remarkable 2 paper tablet that I essentially use as a sketchbook.

Was that first sketchbook a Midori notebook? I recognize the second grid one.
@ProkoTV7 күн бұрын
That first sketchbook is from a brand called Life.

@ProkoTV sorry, then what are the other two brands?
@ProkoTV7 күн бұрын
@@anibal5845 Apologies! We went off the visual being shown when she said what she was starting with. That was actually her second sketchbook shown. We're not sure about the first one. The second (gridded) one is from Life and the third (travel) one is from Mitsou.

What would a mermaid do with a feathered wing at the end of her tail?… I’m Not being rude,I’m just so fascinated by that pic and I love all aspects of the sea and also write fantasy sea stories about things that fascinate me. ( I never share them,I just do it for fun..I am over 70 and maybe my great grandkids, will be surprised if they or their parents find my journals,after I am gone ( Hopefully …someday on a far away time🎉)

Fold it and add some staples or glue stick, and you have a zine! It's very easy to make small custom sketchbooks. My next one will probably use a manila folder as a cover.
