Get him a digi cam, i had one when I was 6, but the NEX-3N is a great choice, if he want's to learn photography from the ground up.

Prices have gone way up lately except maybe if you risk buying an import (and possibly get scammed or pay extra for customs)... you can get the 5r or 5t for maybe around 190 + tax and shipping... so likely you have to pay more than double than quoted here... sigh...
