I’m 53. I have a number of buddies in my age group suffering from shoulder problems. I have avoided shoulder problems after I learned exercising the rotator cuff back in my 30s when I did exercises as Ben demonstrates to reverse out the shoulder tendinitis I had at the time. Im happy to say that my shoulders are healthy and strong, thanks to these exercises. I think people often only use weights to get muscular and avoid lifting light weights and associated lightweight exercises, such as working rotator cuffs because it doesn’t make you muscular. Having a nice physique drew me into bodybuilding, but feeling fit and physically active like a 20 something is what keeps me going; including bench, pressing heavyweight, but also working the smaller muscles and dynamic ways with lighter weights to maintain full mobility and range of motion as I “age” 💪🏼

I'm 38, today was the first day of my 23e week of lifting (and I started going hard from the start) One if the things I did was use resistance bands to do shoulder rotation excersizes both inward/outwardb and up/down. (my left arm wing rotate completely upward or rotate outward enough, that's why i started them, and only started doing shoulder presses after the 2nd month, when my arm could go up enough to do shoulder presses at a 75 degree incline) And because of my age, I also have 20-30 min of stretching after lifting.

Thanks for listening about the request to provide more information on shoulders. I played baseball for years. A few years after I stopped playing competitively I tried to swing a bat, I warmed up ahead of time and have extremely good swing form. When I swung it felt as if both of my shoulders and my left elbow all popped out of socket and back in. Any idea what that might be and how it can be fixed or if it's probably a situation where there's only a surgical solution? I have high range of motion in both shoulders. Almost too much honestly. As for my elbow, I'm a mechanic, sometimes when I have to reach under something and downward pressure is applied to my elbow while the arm is fully extended, I will get an extreme 10/10 sharp pain in my elbow and will have to stop what I'm doing. Thanks man great stuff.

Appreciate your input! Doing some form of push-up, press, or the dumbbell pullover can work well here!

Can dumbbell Powell raise also be done as a rear delt hypertrophy exercise?

Definitely could work!

Hey Ben! Does any of the exercises on the ATG System stretch the Subscapularis? It is tight for me, and I´d like to increase the volume a little bit to improve Ext. Rotation range
@TheKneesovertoesguy2 ай бұрын
Training the external rotation along with movements like dumbbell bench press and push-ups can help open up some range!

Hopefully you or someone can answer this. Are we supposed to do all 3 on the same day? And what, 3 times a week? Is it fine if I do these first and then upper body (push-pull exercises) or would my shoulder be already too fatigued? Thank you in advance Ben🙏🏽
@TheKneesovertoesguy2 ай бұрын
Yep, this can all be on the same day and 3x a week works great! That can be a great warm-up to your upper body sessions!

@@TheKneesovertoesguy Its been only 10 days since I started doing this routine, Ive done it about 5 times now and I have taken a break from heavy lifting in these 10 days untill today. And I had a shoulder pain-free chest day today for the first time in years. There is a lot more stability when doing pressing movements now which seemed to be the problem. Thank you so much man Ill keep doing this routine religiously!
