I don't know about other states, but Maryland has the "Birthday Rule" which says that from your birthday and for 31 days, you can switch from one supplement to another with no underwriting as long as benefits are equal to or less than your current plan.

Marvin, is there a reason why someone will switch from an adv plan to a supp plan?
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 2 ай бұрын
It could be due to cost, flexibility of networks, more comprehensive coverage, or that they want to get onto a supplement before their health changes and they no longer qualify. It varies person to person and what they desire to have within their coverage.

I've heard conflicting information about the monthly plan D premium. If I'm paying $94 per month for the premium, and say I get to the max $2000 in the first 3 months of the year, do I still pay the premium? Or does that drop off after I get to the max?

If it is not covered by your plan/formulary it does not go toward that $2000 cap. You can ask your provider to write a formulary exception to the carrier to then have it added in, if they accept it can then go toward that amount.

Any restrictions to switch from Sup Plan G to N or the other way around? What're the differences btw Plan G and F, apart from age limits?
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 2 ай бұрын
You will more than likely have to medically qualify to go from one plan to another. The only only difference between F and G is that Plan F covers all gaps including the Part B deductible and Plan G only covers 5 of the 6 gaps leaving you responsible for the deductible. We would be happy to review plans with you and see if you qualify for changes. You can call our office at 1-800-864-8890.

What happens if the insurance carrier is not going to be on the list in the health network? I am paying Humana for my supplemental Medicare Plan F. You have said that this is the best plan. Can I switch carriers and keep my Plan F?
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 2 ай бұрын
Since you have a Supplement plan with Humana providers and hospitals legally have to accept that plan no matter what. That is a law that all supplements must be accepted regardless of what carrier it is with. To avoid any billing hiccups you will want to just provide them with your Medicare card when you are being seen. Medicare themselves will send the bill over to Humana to make the remaining payments after they have done so.

Can I use different Pharmacies for different drugs under the same prescription plan?
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 2 ай бұрын
You can while some might be preferred and other a standard pharmacy. If it is preferred your cost would be lower at pick vs using a standard pharmacy you may pay a little more out of pocket at pick up. You can verify with your carrier what your preferred and standard pharmacies are!
@marknelson2037
@marknelson2037 2 ай бұрын
@@MedicareSchool The prices listed on my research at medicare.gov are not at all in line with a "preferred vs standard." In short, can I pick and choose different pharmacies for different medications without penalty? The annual difference is quite substantial. If you'd like to investigate further, I can get the data to you. This seems like a huge topic to me.

Hey Marvin, My Part D insurer, Mutual of Omaha, just sent me a letter saying that they will not offer a PART D PLAN to me in 2025 and that I need to go find another insurer. WHAT THE HECK! Will I now be sent to Underwriting with another carrier or am I guaranteed coverage with any other insurer who is writing a plan in my County here in New Jersey that I may chose? And since my insulin is gonna make me reach the $2,000 max out of pocket in the first QTR of 2005, then I can simply disregard whatever the premium is from any other insurer because I am capped at $2,000. Is that correct? Oh, and is the Premium part of that $2,000 or not? I am confused.
@MedicareSchool
@MedicareSchool 2 ай бұрын
Part D plans do not require underwriting, that is only supplement plans that require that. The $2000 max cap does not include your monthly premium, so even after you reach that $2000 for your prescriptions you will still have to pay for the monthly premium on the plan.
