Yes, adding the action into the subject line, along with the subject, has increased my email response rate for sure! Thanks for your comment.

What useful tips!!! Thank you so much for all your hard work!!! It'd be way clearer if the subtitles remain on the screen a bit longer; too quick

Thanks for your comment and the tip! We'll check out the subtitle timing for sure. Have a good day!

Thinking of the 5 wh questions before writing is a timesaver.

Yes I find it helps me get right to the point.

Yes I agree and once it becomes a habit, it’s even quicker!

Thanks, Haneen! I think the 5 W's also help when one isn't sure how to start. Looking at a blank screen can be intimidating. Jot down the 5 W's of the topic, and you've got a good start at a main point to begin with!

That's great, Christopher; with business writing, we typically want to get our main point out there ASAP.

Definitely-these strategies become habits quickly.

This was great - but I really could have done without the distracting "energizing" background music. Otherwise, thank you. People communicate a lot these days (sound bites, texts, emojis) without really knowing how to communicate.

Thanks, students asked me about long wordy emails which they received from universities. They can not grasp the main ideas of the message easily. Could you please share tips for analyzing and comprehending email?
@HighValueWriting3 ай бұрын
Wow, this is a great message and question. It's so interesting that all over the world, university messages can tend to be wordy. Often, universities have a reputation of writing very long messages. I would suggest that your students do two things: (1) Skim over the whole message quickly, to look for headings, bullets, charts, graphs-anything specific that will give them a sense of the document's purpose before they really start reading. That way, their minds are ready to absorb the new info. (2) Read only the first sentence of every paragraph at first. This should provide a summary of the overall document. Then, they can go back and read any of the paragraphs where the first sentence was meaningful for them.

If you need a 2 line subject, you need to have a conversation. People rely too much on email. Text can be misinterpreted too easily and most people hate to read.

Hi Jont, thanks for your comment! I agree; some topics really require a phone call or in-person conversation. Misinterpretation is always a risk. What's your strategy for deciding when to communicate something through an email vs through a phone call or f2f meeting?
