I remember my first manager position. The team LOVED the previous manager. I was so nervous as to where to begin. With a deep breath and a genuine curiosity...I started with asking each person their career journey & how it led them to where they were & then asking what was working well & what was not & leaning in for solutions to addressing what was not working well. I have found, including the team as much as possible in growing the business is a solid tactic & a win win.

I had the exact same issue, and I was a former team member from years ago, AND 2 of them applied for the role against me and did not get the job. It was awful.
@curiousobserver53322 жыл бұрын
@@antoinevinsonpmp3842 That too was part of my story. A current member of that team also applied for the manager role & was not chosen. All a part of the journey. Loyalty lies in doing the right thing no matter circumstances. And lots of trust.

I wish I had seen this a year ago. You are 100% spot on. Although I'm not a manager, I see this behavior frequently on teams.

I love how you tell how it is. It's even uncomfortable to hear sometimes but I need to hear it and this is super super helpful thank you And in alignment with what I was already thinking which is just sit down and have a conversation one-on-one with each of my team members

I am a new manager within a small team. Just 2 weeks. Should I not have a team meeting on how to build the team or do individual meetings?

Hello, I’m soon to be interviewing for a supervisor promotion from my current position where there is a high likelihood of me being given the position. However, currently in my department there are 2 individuals out of 6 that love to gossip about negatives and start impactful rumors to negatively effect the views of others. They currently see me as a sort of teacher’s pet as I was mentored by our previous supervisor after asking for more challenges and growth. It has been 2 years and am while I am qualified to take on the new roles and responsibilities, I fear my success on the stubbornness of these 2 individuals, how can I break the ice best on trying to earn their respect back?

You know I'm a supervisor right now but for the longest time I wasn't it's weird how supervisors can get away with almost anything there's no repercussions for them because a worker cannot discipline a supervisor for doing something wrong it's always the other way around workers should be able to do this to a supervisor because there is a lot of shitty ones out there just saying but you're great I watch your content all the time

Hi Mac, what's your advice as I feel I am getting affected when I see my team members like leadership posts about micromanagement, difference of a boss of a leader, etc on LinkedIn. I feel paranoid that it is pertaining to me. I try my best to communicate and be understanding but I feel lost like being a manager is not natural as I feel my communication skills in meetings could be improved. I am far from a micromanager but our company requires us to hit certain KPIs daily and I am of course expected to drive it. I am doing my best to focus on results and motivating them.I am six months in my managerial role in a new industry with a new team I inherited. I am struggling in connecting with them and motivating them. I also needed to give 3 members performance improvement plans as directed by my boss so many have resigned during my 6 months in and feel like it has affected the team dynamics. I feel like I'm struggling to keep the team morale high. My team members respect me and listen to me. I just feel I do not know how to give them that drive and motivation to perform their best. I am in sales and it looks like a tough month. I try to create enrichment sessions and hear their suggestions to come up with good incentive plans. I am also struggling because I am a manager in a new industry therefore never experienced selling as an individual contributor in this industry and market. I felt really good when I managed my team in my previous industry. I am feeling uncreative and incompetent and feeling a sense of not being able to provide much value.
