What a great cut! Also, I LOVE that is was 'real' curly hair, I cannot bear the things when thy say it's curly but it's wavy or just Taylor Swift type curls with a wand xx

she's the original curly girl, lorraine used too be(she's given up the company and now works for charity) the owner of the devacurl line and the devachan salons, she created the first ever line of sulphate and silicone free products for curly hair, all those tips you hear those curly hair gurus saying, were originally created by this lady. She is the queen 🙌🏻

She has GREAT hair before and after! I love watching these Deva cuts and seeing how the hair transforms and takes on the new shape right before our eyes. I have a similar curl pattern but opt to have my hair blown out and cut in long layers in order to achieve consistent curly results using the numerous products and styling techniques in my arsenal. Some products/techniques result in tighter coils while some in looser but that's the absolute beauty and "magic" of having curly hair!
@chrisallen19348 жыл бұрын
I've been cutting my own hair using her method for years and it's WAY BETTER than any salon cut I've vet had. Sorry to say, it's even better than the cut I got at Devachan. This method of dry cutting curl by curl is life changing! Thanks for this quick, informative video.

For those saying it's gross to not use shampoo, conditioner doesn't just moisturize, it cleans the same as shampoo does, it just doesn't strip the hair. Only use shampoo (none sulfate) if you have product buildup. Otherwise, conditioner alone will get your hair just as clean without stripping your hair.
@latrenicahuckie11 жыл бұрын
If you have dandruff, try a hot oil treatment once a week. Shampoo the roots of your hair but if you feel you need to shampoo everyday try dry shampoo. I shampoo every 2 or 4 weeks depending on how my hair looks and feels and if I want to try new products. I'm excited to try to cut my hair this week!
@MShaiqable11 жыл бұрын
I used to have really bad dandruff with my curls and shampoo makes it drier hence more flakes! 1. Switch to a sulfate free shampoo or just co-wash; 2. Variate with once a week of massaging your scalp with (a) olive oil, (b) a mixture of 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water - Leave on for anywhere from 20 minutes to overnight; and wash out with your sulfate free shampoo/ cowash. Hope it helps!

I've never had a dry cut before every salon I've ever gone to has either messed up my cut to bad it literally made me cry or they always cut it wet....next time I'm going to a place that does the deva cut!!!

P.S., if you want to learn how to do this yourself, get her book! I think it's still in print. It's called Curly Girl, naturally, and it had so many great tips for all different kinds of curly hair. The best tips, though, are on how to cut it yourself. No one knows your curls better than you do!

I once went into a local upscale salon in my hometown, I had their curl expert cut my fine curls. OMG, I just about died when after the wash and condition and extra condition, she towel dried my hair, (rough towel dry) to about 60%, brushed (BRUSHED!) and cut into layers, and then on low dryer on warm/cool air, started scrunching with gel. I hadn't said anything because I figured maybe her being the curl expert, maybe she knew more and I wanted to see what she was going to do. But by that time, my hair was in frizz-HELL and I just sat there. Then at like 80% dry, she started to spray it and said it was done. I looked like a dying poodle. I just paid, left, and cried in the car. .

That is how you would do someone who had a perm, thats the old fashion way of cutting and styling curly hair, making it fluffy, you can find a deva stylist near you if you go too the devacurl website and search for a stylist with their locator, all the people who are on there, have taken a course which was created by the lady in this video, lorraine massey. You can use it too find a stylist in the us and canada, look for a lv 2 advanced or a lv 3 certified. If you live in the uk, we currently only have a handful of deva stylists. We have the owner of cuttlefish eco salon(brighton), everyone in mathew james spring salon(birmingham), and lindsey hughes( A lady who rents out a chair in london) I currently have fine hair because i lost a bunch when i got sick a few months ago. The biggest thing is too style on soaking wet hair, and dont rake, smooth and scrunch

Thank you for all of this information! I also am being treated for something and have fine hair and some loss on my sides. But in the meantime, I've found a thickener I'm using that surprisingly with just a few sprits, helps me with lift and curl definition. I'm also giving my self blunt w/long layer cuts at home via some video I found here on youtube. Glad that was an old fashioned way, curls sure have come a long way! Thank you for your reply!

Hello There!!! The top part of my hair is super dry. My grandmother took me when I was younger to get a relaxer in my hair two different times. The first time it was to straighten my hair completely. Alot of my hair fell out due to the chemicals and I had holes in my head. The second time it was suppose to "define my curls"........it was straight then curly at the end, it was horrible. My spiral curls have yet to come back with the bounce they once had. Though after receiving a terrible cut my curls actually spring back to life again. The the hair that fell out grew back beautiful. The top part is still dry should I cut it or is there another way to save it.
