This is my favorite cut ever! Lots of messy curly layers, fullness in the right places, easy to care for, and versatile. It's like a way better version of the 80's shag. These days if you ask a young hairstylist for a shag cut you might get a mullet, a wolfcut, or something in between. But not an actual shag. I think because things have changed that much and stylists are not learning in school what an actual shag should look like. Especially if you have curly or wavy hair. The beauty of a shag, in my opinion, is that it looks great with almost no fussing with it everyday. The best kind of haircut!

Yes. I'm not sure why they stopped teaching it. It's been the one consistent and has never quite gone out of style. Ironically I was following the new Cub Cut video and wasn't satisfied so I went a bit further with the cut at the top/sides and low and behold I had a shag. I was so happy lol. It's what I've been wanting for years. Oh, you might want to check out the new Cub Cut.

Came here because I couldn’t find anybody to cut my daughter’s hair before school! I need everybody on this thread to pray for me and her lol. Here I go with the scissors! **OK you guys! I wanted to give you all the follow up … I did the strategy shown in this video, and I nailed it! My daughter started showing people and they’re like OMG please get us the info for your curly hair stylist 😂🤫

This is what I always envisioned my very wavy hair to look like but never seem to be able to express or explain what I want. I am hoping to take a still shot of this to bring to my next salon visit. Is there any verbal descriptors that we can ask our stylist to achieve this look?
@nuthinbutlove5 ай бұрын
I suggest saving the video to show your stylist and once he gets into the cut in the video you can fast -forward to the end so the stylist can hear it explained and see how it starts and then how it ends.

Hope you’re still answering questions…Due to weight gain, my face has gone from an oval to round. My hair is a 2C/3B? Just getting used to it being curly. Currently it makes it too short and and wide! I love this haircut but I feel I need more height. How can I achieve this height through a DIY? I have done the pigtail (😮) haircut in combo with a few other techniques for the time being… but what would be the best way to lightens up the top and even “lift” - maybe by just lighting the top type technique? Or should I use some sort of fringe - as you say to the cheek bones? From what you are showing, I think it would be using the fringe as guide for the empahise for the life on the cheek bones as a guide? Keep the curls less curly? (Right now it’s too short- at shoulder length!). Anyway. Your advice would be greatly appreciated in the interim.

Show them the video! Communication is important between client and stylest a good hair stylest knows this. The video is a tool to show them what you're looking for, You could say to them "Having curly, I find it hard to describe the cut I would like this short video shows what I'm looking for do you mind watching it?" ❤ Pro tip: ask for a longer appointment time so the stylest isn't rushed

Put it in really wet. I use argan (or whatever your moisturizer is) first in dripping hair, then add some gel. Finger comb it through to distribute. Scrunch the hair a bit, get the curls started. Wrap it in a T-shirt to absorb the moisture for a bit. Air dry or diffuse.

As you can tell I am a heavy girl. I am 57 years old per the 29th of this month. My hair is halfway down my back. It is graying bad with some of my dark brown still in it. I have very thin hair. I have done everything to try to thicken it up other than to go the more expensive routes. My father and mother have beautiful white hair and I have friends who tell me that my hair is going to be the same. Here's my dilemma... Should I dye my hair back to its original color? Dark brown 🤎? Or, maybe dye my hair AND cut it to slim my face? Should I just cut my hair and if so how? Or maybe I should I just leave well enough alone. 🤷🏻♀️ OR... Should I shave this stinkin' mess and be done with the problem? (P. S. I hate wigs on myself. But I love hats! 😀) Please, I'm a disabled nana. I don't get much each month to spend so ya girl can't go too far with her moe-nayyy. Whatever help you can offer WILL BE appreciated. 💋🌬️

I MUST say... Having a round face myself... I do NOT like to have that lifted up roundish shape in the front. It makes my face look even ROUNDER. I used to go to a hairdresser that cut really short layers on the top of my head with that lifting weight technique + softening it at the end, and it scared me out of hairdressers' salons... I felt like a puddle coming out of that, seriously. I like to have the entire weight to my shoulders and work out the slightest transition into the neck (with longer strands against the neck, but not that much longer) so that is elongates and shapes a sort of V shape in my neck. Then I add some framing pieces or a bang to break the round form on the forehead side... That's just me though! There's a lot of different "round"-ish shapes out there. (Although to be faire, I do sometimes add a THIN layer of short hair into the weight of my hair (that I try to keep rather in the back) to give it some volume and shagg effect, but I almost always hate it for a while before it grows more naturally into my hair. It's fine though, because I feel like most people don"t get how wavy/curly hair works and mostly don't notice lol)
