Why is it that most videos of strumming, dont really mention that you dont have to strum all the strings on an up stroke? Thank you for making that so much easier.

Your fun to watch, high energy. But the most important thing is when you just go off the hip creating a song - while your teaching. You set an example of how much fun simple guitar playing can be. Thanks for the inspiration and the lesson.

57 yrs young and have been playing about 5 months. Have the Am Pentatonic and Blues scales down but wanted to start playing songs with a bit of strumming...yes I was frustrated. My Wife is on the front lines of COVID19 as a Medical worker and I just needed a bit of a pick me up so I started strumming... Here you are with this great video on this Easter Sunday and I feel blessed to have found your lessons. Thank you. God Bless from Florida

I like you, man. You’ve got a nice easy-going teaching style. It’s great to watch how you get into that zone when that music takes hold of you and you just start singing away and forget that you’re teaching. Got a huge kick out of that. Happens to me all the time. And I’ve been playing for going on 30 years so I don’t think it’s going to be changing anytime soon. God bless. Learn something from you. I mainly a finger picker so this using a pic thing is not my strength right now.

Every now and then I go back to this for some basic strumming practice - excellent instruction - and your ditty "One of these days I'm gonna / Start going to the gym / One of these days I'm gonna work out" always makes me smile. Good work.

I'm terrible at strumming with a pick (so much so that I bought a classical guitar and took up fingerpicking). I decided to give my pick and steel string another chance, thanks for getting me off to a better start!

I'm so glad I found your channel. I started playing about 5 weeks ago. I am finding your videos very useful, and I thank you for sharing. I purchased your Country Song Book bundle and I'm loving it. I have found a couple of the major chord transitions can be a little difficult, but I started using the Cadd9 and Dsus4 to play songs and it is so much easier. I'm still practicing the C and D, but when I want to play songs a little cleaner, I use the other variations. Strumming is getting better, but I struggle with the swing of Wagon Wheel. I know it is the 2nd pattern in this video, but I struggle to get the timing of the swing just right. I'll keep strumming. Thank you again!

Brother, two things. First, I was recently accepted as a member of the Worship team at my church. I couldn't figure out if I wanted to sing or not. i love the guitar, but it always overwelmed me, because I thought I had to be all fancy. That leads me to my second point. Your videos have shown me that for a beginner like myself, simple is better. Keep up the great work. I love your videos!!! I'll be using these skills on the team.

Thank you so much for your time and efforts. In Feb.2018 I turned 50. I bought a acoustic guitar and subscribed to your channel. I watch your videos, but I never touched the guitar. 2 years ago I bought a electric and took lessons for a month and was disappointed with my progress. This is the year you will teach me how to play my first note. I will push the truck from a dead stop starting tomorrow. Thank you.

I just started learning guitar three months ago and my best piece of advice to a fellow beginner is this, STICK WITH IT. Very frustrating at the beginning, but there’s a wall you’ll break through and become hooked super quick. Just stick with it and it becomes very rewarding very quick!!!

Here there. Just turned 52 this February 24th. Had to go on disability so I bought a Yamaha solid top steel string acoustic as well and subbed to this channel. Sucks being on disability (probably for a few years) but at least I have plenty of time to practice 😁.

You'll get past it. Make sure you have an easy to play guitar. I traded my old one for a Taylor GS mini koa. Much easier for me. I yelled a lot getting back into it. For WEEKS. I know electric guys who ABSOLUTELY REFUSE acoustic for that reason, lol.
