I think that some men cannot fathom that not every heterosexual woman wants male attention. I think that some men think that a woman will simply fall over themselves if a man looked in their direction. I think that for most women, getting attention is so common place that it doesn't even matter.

The floors had never seen a vacuum and there was always a sink full of dirty dishes. I'd go to bake us a pizza and find last week's leftovers in the oven covered with mold. He always asked why I kept my shoes on whenever I came over, and back then I was still trying to be "nice" so I told him oh I just have sensory issues with walking barefoot. But really it was because I didn't want to get all the cat litter that was scattered all over the carpets on my bare feet. He walked barefoot and tracked the litter into the bed too 🤮 The only time his sheets(and most of his clothes) ever got washed is when I did his laundry. And of course he was very _sensitive_ so I had to pretend I was an OCD neat freak who had to obsessively clean to quiet my crazy brain so he wouldn't think I was _judging him_ and get offended. India is a big country with many races languages and religions. When you see large groups of men as roommates it's usually because they found each other while looking for a place to live. They aren't from the same group. That also causes more problems. It may be unpleasant to hear Tamil movie songs blasting while you are trying to sleep if you are a Tamilan, but frustration increases when you speak some other Indian lang with no mutual intelligibility. Quiet and courtesty is the order of the day when living in a large number of mixed groups. I lived in an all-ladies boarding house in India during university and it was OK. Edit: I can't remember if it is legal in India to discriminate based on gender but in practice it happens all the time. One of the requirements for job applicants is to attach a recent headshot photo along with details of caste, marital status, and parents and both maternal and paternal sides of grandparents' addresses even if they are not alive. This is done for bg check. It also helps to verify caste. I once saw an ad for a job that stated "no Hindus". He caught media heat but explained that as a Hindu himself with all-Hindu workforce he needed some ppl of other religions who would be willing to work Hindu holidays. Things are different there.

Reminds me of that social experiment with children where they put 10 girls together in one house and 10 boys in another then left them alone for 5 days. The girls made chore charts, cooked, cleaned, did group activities, and counseled each other. The boys destroyed the house, lived off cereal and soda, singled out one boy to bully, and had divided into two gangs by the end of the experiment.

Meanwhile, he’s running off trying to fill voids with dating apps. Too much of a coward to speak up. Please tell me how cheating will improve his mental health 🙄. 30yrs down the drain, I can’t stand men. They got married really young, now that I’ve done the math. Was so confused when my mom didn't like it and demanded payment for damages. Another one (also single dude) was like an ideal tenant. Then one day he just disappeared. Took all his things and just left without paying for like two months. Abandoned his cat tho. Just left her locked in an empty flat. No food, no water, nothing. Didn't even tell us he's leaving. Just left her there. So it's only couples and single women now.

As a woman landlord, and as a half-South Asian, I understand the no bachelor policy. Just like a lot of these places, I didn't use to have that policy, but after a series of men tenants who were filthy to the point of allowing vermin infestation and/or destructive or dangerous to the structure of the home (breaking doors or windows out of recklessness, storing explosive material in the house), I switched to women-only. Female tenants are not without their own issues. For example, some of them from pampered backgrounds (all whyte) expect me, a half-Black half-South Asian, to be their servant woman. I have had a couple of stellar men tenants, but unfortunately bad men tenants can cause so much damage. By the way, some of the filthiest apartments I've been in -- with the exception of those of drug addicts -- have been those of young South Asian men. I know very few South Asian men who clean up after themselves. If their house is clean, they almost certainly have a woman doing it -- either a maid, a wife, or their mother.

There was an apartment building across from my house that had a landlord who only had female tenants. He said he found men to be problematic, that they always brought drama or problems (violence, yelling, parties, property damage, etc), whereas his female tenants did not. There was a dude in my old apartment building who deliberately caused thousands of dollars worth of damage - he cut the wiring to the stove, the thermostat and the fridge - when he was asked to leave after a DV incident with his GF. My friend’s house was TRASHED by her male tenant, who originally moved in with his wife and daughter. He was abusive and crazy, so the wife left with the child. The dude squatted on my friend’s property for a year and a half (she was in the courts trying to get him evicted, but there was backlog from COVID). After he was finally escorted out by cops, he came BACK that night, kicked down the door and trashed the house even more. She had to sell her home for a fraction of its value due to the damage this asshole left behind.

My relative has worked as a realtor, this is not uncommon in my part of the world (Eastern Europe) to not want to rent to bachelors. The landlord would ask the realtor privately, so that there will be no claims of discrimination, no threats, etc. Men do tend to leave the apartments they used to rent in a bad state. Not all of them, but enough for it to be a stereotype. Most landlords want to rent to women, and often women with kids. We actually have a law that makes it insanely hard to evict a tenant with a kid unless they did something really extreme. And still, most women with kids don't take advantage of that, don't wreck the place, don't refuse to leave, etc. And kid in the eyes of landlord is a guarantee that the tenant would stay for a little longer because kids need stability and parents prefer to live near their kids' school and such.

The tenant issue is crazy to me. I have three kids, and when we travel I try my best to leave the place reasonably clean, but with kids, it just is what it is. We put the garbage in the trash can, and all of the towels piled in the same spot, and I feel like that is basic behavior. How is it possible that these men are dirtier than a family of five? It sounds like these guys are getting drunk and damaging property, and not just leaving their food trash everywhere. I find that to be extremely bad behavior, not just filthy.

Had a different neighbor bang on my door threatening to beat me up because I opened the compound gate to allow 2 girls he was beating up to escape. The same guy is a messy tenant even to the landlord due to delayed rent payments and refusal to pay his water and electricity bills, but the landlord won't do anything about it, it's weird. Then there's the dudes sharing a house who beat up a utility company worker who had come to take a meter reading... I had a landlord who refused to rent to single men. He was upfront about it, and he didn't care about housing discrimination laws. He'd been burned bad by men who destroyed property, including one man who butchered a deer in an apartment, leaving congealed blood throughout the kitchen and living room when he left. (This was in Florida, so ...) At another building, I made a case for a break on the rent, pointing to my gender (female) and age (old) to persuade the landlord I was a good bet for respecting the property and being a stable tenant. I got the break! I suggest other single ladies unencumbered by men try this.

1st part: It’s my opinion that when it comes to subjects like this men are clueless. All they know is their own behavior and they will project that onto other men as is evidenced by the comments in the video. They need to understand that if you don’t discuss a subject with others, then they have no clue how anyone else behaves. 2nd part: 30 years is long enough in a marriage to someone looking/cheating behind your back. And, there is a chance of getting part of his retirement in a divorce. So, I say divorce him and move on living your best life.

I am American and have lived in India. I am not surprised that in Mumbai they don’t want sloppy single men moving in. Additionally, some of these spaces are turning down upwardly mobile men. These men would have to income to pay someone to cook and clean for them. (Mumbai is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in and property is expensive there.) Additionally, it is common for men from rural areas to go to larger cities for work. Often times their wives and kids stay behind at least temporarily. If a man works in a restaurant or hotel (maybe not 5 star) they actually live on the property. These men do know how to cook and clean. Whether or not they do at home with their families, I can’t say.
