I’ve been watching corn snake care videos for weeks (reptile show tomorrow!), and nobody has ever mentioned the need for easy access in an emergency. Thanks for making it so clear!

You are the first person I have ever heard mention the emergency removal, well done, great video.

I'm about to buy my first snake today. And this was useful, I wonder if u have any more advice in terms of parts and enclosure size for baby corn snake, around 6 months old.
@AlexsAgamids Жыл бұрын
For a younger snake, I’d suggest prioritizing security. Baby corn snakes are escape EXPERTS! So starting a 6month old off in a tub setup will be easiest to prevent escapes. Then as it grows you can upgrade to a nice PVC enclosure as shown in the video.

I think I heard you say Chile'? My cornsnakes name is Chile? He's 7 months old and he is orange with darker orange/red stripes...tessera? Don't ask me, I'm not up on all of the morph names. I liked him because he was so different and he reminded me of New Mexico so I named him Chile' Pepper! Thank you for pointing out the need to be able to remove your snake in case of emergency! I'm about to upgrade Chile's enclosure and I want to keep that in mind!

Yup! Although I spell it “Chili”. Glad the video was helpful! Thanks for watching!

What is the second enclosure that you show in the video and where can I find it? It looks amazing!
@AlexsAgamids Жыл бұрын
If by second you mean my setup at the end where I discuss having “easy access” to your snake. That enclosure is a T8 by Animal Plastics. You can check it out on their website here: apcages.com/collections/terrestrial-cages/products/t08-48l-x-24w-x-12h Hopefully that helps! - Alex

Great video, thanks for all these fantastic tips and things that need to be considered. I'm curious, how do you like the basking shelf? I'm about to buy some AP T4s and I'm curious if I should get the basking shelf add-on or make a shelf myself?
@AlexsAgamids Жыл бұрын
So far I am very pleased with the basking shelf add on. I frequently see the corn snake perched on it both to bask and simply "chill" on the ledge as it covers the the whole back of the enclosure. I'd like to note too that I've added a hide on the shelf so that way the snake has an "arboreal perch" (aside from the ceiling hide I have) and I can tell you that the hide is used much more often than the hide boxes on the floor! Lastly, shelves add more usable space. In my case with a T8, the cage is 4'x2' and the shelf is roughly 4'x1' meaning I technically have a total of 12ft square, so even in a 4'x2' cage, the useable floorspace is equal to that of a 6'x2' cage without a shelf! Totally worth adding them onto your T4 enclosures! Thanks for watching!

@@AlexsAgamids I’m curious how did you mount the ceiling hide so it’s safe for the snake?
@AlexsAgamids Жыл бұрын
Excellent question. The hide comes with a PVC insert. So you screw the insert to the top and the hide slides in/out for easy access.

Where did you get your Thermostat? I think they they are a bit pricey😬 What other thermostat would you recommend? This is not affordable for all, especially with just 1 or 2 snakes.
@AlexsAgamids8 ай бұрын
I purchased my thermostat from Spyder Robotics. Yes they are costly, but I am not willing to go cheap on a thermostat for the health of my snakes. While you can use a “cheap” option. A cheaper thermostat comes with the risk of said thermostat failing and thus overheating, and potentally killing, your snake. I only have three pet snakes, but I chose to spend the extra money on a reliable themrostat to ensure their habitats function properly for years to come!

What kind of corn snake is that
@AlexsAgamids9 ай бұрын
If you’re referring to the snake on the thumbnail. That is a Sunglow Amel.

Going on 12 years with the locks. Never once forgotten, or a snake escaped. 😎👍🏻
